For those that are painting while pregnant what did you use?
What safety precautions have you taken?

I would love to repaint my kids rooms and do some things for them so they don't feel so left out of all the fun but don't want to make DH do it all. Any advice would be great! Thanks ladies.

I didn't do anything "different"...I just made sure to have plenty of fans circulating. I didn't even smell the paint fumes!!!!

I've painted with both my previous pregnancies. When I was pregnant with my son I painted almost our entire house all by myself. He's healthy and didn't come out with an extra eye or anything. I just opened windows in the rooms I was painting.

I'll also be doing a lot of painting this pregnancy. We don't get our new house until Sept 1st and I'll be painting as much of the house as I possibly can before Fallon arrives.

If you use latex paint, there's no problem. Just be careful on ladders (i.e. get somebody else to do that part).

I was thinking if we got to paint the nursery I would use one of those mask things. My dad is an electrician and has tons of them.

Oh I don't need ladders thankfully . Well I guess the top edging I will have to bribe hubby for that. Thanks ladies. I will have to see what I can convince DH of in the coming weeks.

I let DH paint the room. I did the touch ups on the baseboards. I used Olympic which is low odor.

I asked my dr about this and he looked at me like I was crazy...

the look was priceless...

but I did paint at the end of last pregnancy regardless...

had plenty of fans and open windows in Jan needless to say..lol

no fumes bothered me...just my big ole fat belly got in way...and my knees wore out easy...lol

I didnt' do anything different easy with DD's room last week. i let her do all the bottom part around the base boards because it was uncomfortable to sit in that position for me to do them and DH did the higher trim work. i just took my time and opened the window. (dh loved that since i had the a/c going strong lol)

I have (unfortunately) painted at the mid to end of each of my last 5 pregnancies and will for this one as well. Stay with latex paints only...no oil based and keep the air circulating...windows open, fan on. Take breaks or you will regret it and keep your energy up by eating well and drinking plenty of water. No ladders, step stools, or crazy reaching. have fun...lol

We just decided to move switch our sons and our babies room's around, so all the "bigger" kids are on the front side of the house and the babies will be on the back side of the house....now even more painting for mommy! Can't wait though. We are getting all the bigger kids bunk beds to make the adjustments to another baby more fun for them. I love doing this stuff...now to find a way to afford it

I've painted both kids rooms while pregnant with them. I just made sure to have the window open and used a fan to help circulate the air.

I also painted our living room, entry way and part of the basement during this pregnancy with my mum's help. It was sort of a last minute decision to do it while she was here visiting. I probably won't be doing anymore this pregnancy though.
