Does anyone else check their cervix themselves? I'm just wondering if I am the only crazy pregnant lady her that does that occasionally.

I wouldn't know how to even if I wanted to (which I don't). I am well versed in checking my cervix for signs of ovulation from my days of fertility charting, but that's about it. How do you know what you're looking for?

I do, I don't know exactly how dilated I am because I'm not sure I can really figure that out, but I do it when I'm charting so I will occasionally do it when pregnant too.

Dani, it's very much like checking it throughout your cycle. Check for position (high, medium, or low) and front or back. As you get closer to labor, the cervix drop down and turns to face forward. I don't know if I'd want to check for dilation, but you can tell if the opening increases, just from familiarity. I don't have the website handy, but I know there are ones that have the info on the how-to's.

I don't because I get it checked via ultrasound every couple of weeks, and I really don't want to piss my cervix off anymore than it already is lol.

I also couldn't because with this pregnancy my down there parts are super swollen, and painful. I cringe at the thought of anything going in. Getting checked in triage is enough action for me.

When I start EPO I'll check position and effacement then, not really dialation, just cuz I'd be scared to touch something I shouldn't (bag of waters or babies head )

Mine is always really high and I cannot reach it, even when I'm not pregnant. Heck the dr's have a hard time reaching it. LOL So needless to say, I've never felt my cervix.

I might try this pregnancy if I can reach it. The docs always have a hard time reaching it and they make me do the 'fist behind my lower back' thing when I'm getting checked.
