The first time the ethnicity question comes up is on the birth certificate, so I'm just wondering what everyone plans to put? So many babies are so mixed, so I saw this thread on another DDC and thought it could be fun to see what our babies are!

I never answer those questions. I don't see why race is important to anything.

I had no idea they asked this for the birth certificate! I am guessing I will just put caucasion? I most certinaly don't want to put "don't want to answer" for something on the certificate xD

I think some of the questions they ask when you fill out the form for the birth certificate have nothing to do with the birth certificate itself but are just for statistical purposes. Like race, and education of the parents, and stuff like that. Neither my birth certificate or my husband's (different states) make any mention of race.

Whether or not I answer that will depend on the options and whether I can check more than one, otherwise I'll just decline to answer that one.

Here they ask the race of the mother and race of the father...I dont remember if it asks the race of the baby or not...I will most likely put African American or Black for Ava. Although I think they have added a 'multiracial' option, and I am not too keen on marking the 'other' option....

I generally put "human" under race. If someone's with me they always switch it to white or Caucasian

I used to do that Now I just leave it blank though. I don't think I've ever filled out a form where race was not an optional question.

I would put Hawaiian as it may help him out later in life. He is mixed but will be part-Hawaiian. There are schools here that you need to be Hawaiian to get into so I'd like it on his birth certificate.

Caucasion.

I think it's just for statistical purposes. It's not like it's a big secret so I'll answer truthfully.

I know it's just a question, but it's one I never fill out on any form, for me or my children. there's no relavence to it. IMHO

Dropping in from August, doing research for your stats and this one caught my eye We were never asked to fill out the race of our child on his birth certificate when Dalton was born.
