How many packages of newborn diapers should I get?

They say they it to 10 lbs... but if I have a 8-9 pounder... she wont be in the newborn size very long, right?

how long did it take your babies to get over 10 lbs?

If you are expecting an 8-9lb baby, I would start with size 1. DS1 was 9lbs 12oz at birth. We tried a few newborn diapers because they were left overs that were given to us and they didn't work at all.

I was given two packages of newborns. I only opened one. I'm going to wait and see how big this kiddo is and then, if I have to, have someone run to the store and exchange for more.

With my first dd I was using NB until she was about a month old! but she was 6lbs 8oz. With my 2nd dd (7lbs 12 oz) I used for about 2 weeks and moved to size 1. I like NB because of the hole for the umbilical cord

I have some that were given to me by a friend that she didn't use that were already opened, but other than that I am not opening any packs of nb size till I see how big he ends up being, so I can exchange them for a bigger size. Unless you have a 5 lb baby they outgrow nb sooo fast.

Tessa wore the newborn size for less than a day until I realized that size 1 fit her so much better.

I have one package of newborn (80 count)

I had babies that were 7 pounders, but my L was up to 9 by the time she was 2 weeks, and I just used 1 package of 40 newborns and the ones from the hospital.

Hi, popping in from the August DDC. I always have 9.5-10 lb babies and I still use about 2 packages of newborn diapers, maybe just not quite finishing the second package, but I give the rest to my little girls for their baby dolls.

However, my babies come out big and slim down a little before taking off again.

Just open one package and keep the reciepts for all the other packages. For my other kiddos born at 6lbs 8oz...we used for about 3 weeks or so. This time around I have no idea...I bought 3 large boxes of newborn and my mother bought another box...we go through over 25 diapers a day so we are speeding through those diapers FAST. We went through 1 small pack of premie diapers when we first got home. As of Friday the boys were 6lbs 1oz and 5lbs 1oz. I am not buying diapers again till I am running low on newborns...I have a huge (234 count) box of size 1 waiting also.

I have 1 pkg of newborn my sons were 7/10 and 9/3. So we didn't use them for long. Diapers are exchangable with or without a receipt as long as they're unopened.

I'd just do 1 package, when baby starts to leak out of them you know you need the next size up.

Mike who was my tiniest baby was in newborn diapers for a couple of months. Tori was only in newborn for a couple of weeks. Landen was in preemie diapers for about a month before he went into newborn for a month.

I have two packs, one is open, the other is not. I'll just go from there. Although...I shouldn't use any because I'm supposed to be using cloth...

I have a pack or two of NB swaddlers and mostly the next size up since they grow so fast. All unopened, so I can exchange if I need be.
