I have been prescribed domperidone to increase my milk supply. Callie still isn't up to birth weight @2 1/2 weeks old, actually she is still 11OZ below. I know that the drug isn't approved by the FDA for increased lactation but have been told it's safe. I was wondering if anyone else has taken it or has any experience with it?? I am supposed to start it tomorrow but I'm just nervous...
MY Lactation consultant says that at all the Lactation events it really gets "talked up" (in a good way if I understand correctly) and i read that it could increase supply by up to 45%. Any advice is appreciated.

I've been on it. Didn't work for me but I might not have taken it long enough. I know adoptive moms who have taken it and have actually induced lactation when they'd never breastfed, before. It's amazing stuff and there are usually very side effects, if any.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm glad to hear of someone else whose actually taken it, and knows others who have. I've been SO worried about it since the LC said that it wasn't approved by the FDA for this use. I started it this morning. Hopefully I'll notice a change in a 4-5 days.
