I'm taking azrunningmom reply from my thread and making it into a post so it doesn't get lost.

So you guys do use canned veggies/fruits for finger foods? I've been wondering this but wasn't sure.

What are you guys doing as far as finger foods and meats? Like how are you preparing it so it's soft and they can get it down without choking? Has anyone started meats yet? Or are you pureeing them?

Yes, I buy canned veggies --- the ones with the carrots and peas. They're really soft and my LO loves picking them up and feeding himself.

LO has also tried the following...

- Mashed potatos - boil for 30 mins and mash. LO loves this.
- Mashed yams - wash, poke holes all over with fork, wrap with foil, and bake in the oven for 45 to 50 mins. Deeelish!
- Scrambled egg yolk with formula - LO was not a big fan
- Pureed chicken with apple sauce - LO was not crazy about it, but he didn't hate it either. I recently purchased a Magic Bullet and pureed cooked dark meat chicken (with a bit of water)
- Avocado chunks - LO LOVES this!
- Banana chunks - another favorite!

and I think that's all I've tried so far....

Alyssa for the most part still gets a lot of mashed up food. Other than that she eats crackers, puffs, crunchies, bread with sauce, toast, puree chicken with potatoes and carrots. i know there is more i cant think of right now

We haven't done canned fruits or veggies yet. Most of his finger foods are cheerios, banana pieces and raisins. The only meat he has eaten has been purreed and mixed with other stuff, like casserole that I ground up.
