i just had a baby in august, and i am exclusively breastfeeding and on the minipill. i started taking the pills last wednesday night and had sex that night with my DH. I didn't realize until a few days later that it says you need to use backup contraception for the first 48 hours!! I feel like an idiot but I'm also terrified because I had a c-section and I really should not be pregnant now. Is there ANY coverage from the minipill if i took it that day? Could I be pregnant? I am breastfeeding exclusively, so that might cover me, but on the other hand Ive heard that you're most fertile after u have a baby. Anyone know more about all of this?

Exclusively breastfeeding is supposed to make it harder to get pregnant. I believe it causes you not to ovulate and therefore you're period doesn't return as quickly? But it is possible.

I'd be willing to bet that you are not pregnant, your body is less fertile while breastfeeding but you do release an egg before getting your period so it is possible.

I think it's highly unlikely to get pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding, especially if you're still having some PP spotting.

weven if you are, you are like minutes pregnant. so you wouldn't even know for another week or so at the soonest.

call your OB, they'll get you in for a test if need be in a while.

welcome btw. would love an intro post from you
