Preheat oven to 325. Crush bananas; whip until light. Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs, flour, baking soda, and nuts/dates if using. Add bananas LAST. Turn into a well-greased bread pan. Bake for approx 1 hour (can take up to 90 minutes, so check with a toothpick or cake tester).

I was waiting for my bananas to turn a little brown or spotty and the top two hardly changing color or getting spotty... so I picked up the bunch and realized the bottom one was completely black.. I set it back down and it poured rotton liquid out all over my counter... what I don't get is how they were from the same bunch and the other 2 were fine! I had to toss the whole bunch
