For those of you that say that you don't really do jarred food, but they eat what you are eating, how do you do this? Do you mix it up in a blender and feed it to them? Do you cut it into tiny pieces and let them feed it to themselves?

I am just a little confused on this. Right now he gets bites of what we have, but nothing that would constitute as a full meal by any means. I would like to start giving him more table food, but I am not sure how to go about it! TIA!

It depends. I'll give him beans mashed with a spoon, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes straight. Most meals, tho, are made by throwing a couple serving spoons of the entree and side into the same baby bullet, blender and pulsing a couple times so that chunks are no bigger than his finger tips. For example, rice spaghetti + homemade tomato sauce goes in the blender with some cheese. Last night, the menu was tinga de pollo (chicken in tomato chipotle sauce and onions) with a side of whole black beans. I put 1/2 chicken and 1/2 black beans in bullet. Pulsed a couple times and dinner was ready. He loved it. I also gave him small pieces of avocado on his tray, which he fed to himself.

I don't blend mine. He mainly just gets the vegetables we eat. So the pieces are already small enough.

I don't put anything in a blender. Its amazing what he can chomp up with his gums, and the few teeth he has!!

He will eat a whole bowl of speghetti (I may cut it up for him) - and I give it to him off a spoon.

He takes bites off of my pizza, or a dinner roll - like tears them off himself. Those aren't really full meals - but tastes.

Gerber makes meals for toddlers that have more texture. I buy those for when dh and I eat later - so that he can eat at his regularly scheduled time. Or - I will give him those pasta pickups - which are bite sized raviolis - and those I feed from a fork (I have baby forks).

Veggies (green beans, peas, carrots) he will pick up on his own and eat.

I cut pieces of chicken small for him to eat - or he eats ground turkey too. He doesn't get a lot of beef - as I don't make alot of beef.

He'll eat pancakes on the weekend, and a jar of fruit with them.

I just started him on snacking on the dole fruit cups - there are pieces of fruit in there that are pretty big - he chomps them up real nice!

I would give him meatloaf, or burger meat, or meatballs too - if I made them - lol..

Pasta is great. I get wheat pasta and put some cream of mushroom soup with it with some ground turkey and veggies - and he loves it.

I totally underestimated him at first (cutting up those raviolis, cutting his veggie really small) but - realized fast - that he can handle it.

I also do not blend anything. I just cut it small enough for him. Some things like bread I give him bigger chunks so he can hold it and bite. it is quite amazing that he can "bite" with two teeth but he does

Ruby has a 1/2 tooth through and she just eats whole pieces, very small. I don't blend anything. Chicken, pork, beef. Pasta, bread, fruit (if it's very ripe, like pears, or bananas), cheese, veggies---black beans, edamame (I take the skin off the bean part so it's in half), carrots, peas, etc. Rice. And then other stuff I give her off a spoon, like casseroles, soup, mashed potatos, mac and cheese, etc. She eats pretty much anything. I just don't give her stuff she can't chew up.
