Rachel - I personally pump in the morning when my supply is really abundant. If he went for a long period without feeding during the night (like last night when he STTN) I'll get up and pump first thing because not only do I hurt from engorgement but I have a ton of milk, plus my letdown will be so forceful without some pre-feeding pumping that I'll choke the crap out of him. If it's just a normal morning when he's been up 1-2 times throughout the night then I'll just pump on the side he didn't feed on for the first two morning feedings (so he'll eat on the left and I'll pump on the right, and then vice versa). Once the afternoon hits I do sometimes see a dip in my supply so I don't really pump then unless I'm away from the baby for some reason.
