How are you ladies going about this? Jenny's post made me think of this? Do you mix it with their formula/BM or do you give it to them separately? And do you start to give it to them each feeding or start with one and slowly add it to all of them. ahh..one more thing to stress over!

I think I'll try Soy milk first and see how she does...otherwise, she will be on formula forever....want some Lucky Charms cereal? Here's some formula to put it in! Haha!

I think with my other kids, I mixed it with what they were already drinking. For my daughter it was breastmilk. I was stuck with 50/50 for her for a while before I realized she didn't like the consistency of whole so I gave her 2% and she liked it. About a month later I switched her to whole milk and she was fine. I also had to warm it for her for a few months. With my son, I had been supplmenting with formula (like I am now with Ruby) so I did this weird 50/50 breastmilk/formula to 50/50 formula/whole milk, and then finally whole milk. He did the transition faster and also got on cups faster than my daughter did (she used bottles until about 14 months).

It seems overwhelming to think about but just don't stress, you'll get her transitioned eventually. My husband's cousin's little boy is allergic to dairy and he is drinking almond milk and rice milk (he's 18 months). She was also still nursing him as of a few months ago.

When DS1 approached a year he was on formula. For like a week I would do 6 oz. formula, 2 ounces whole milk. The next week 4 oz. formula, 4 oz. whole milk. The next week 2 oz. formula, 6 oz. whole milk, and the next week just whole milk. He got to where he never finished a bottle. So he really didn't get alot of whole milk.

Can you imagine dropping Taylor off at a slumber party? "Here honey - don't forget your formula!!!"

I think I'm going to mix half and half for a little while - and then just switch and see how it goes. I plan to start in about a week - so he will be off of breastmilk before he is 1 - maybe about 2 weeks before.

I've been wondering how to go about doing this since LO has the milk allergy too. I hope you'll keep us informed with how your transition goes.

Jenny....Yeah, I'll be dropping her off with a bottle of Formula, some puffs, some gerber stage 2 foods along with some finger foods in pieces that are WAY too small because I'm worried she'll choke on anything bigger, and of course her swaddle because I was terrified of taking her out of it!!

Poor kid, will never WANT to go to a slumber party!!
