So . . . we are taking Luigi away next week for 3 days. We are driving about 3 hours away to Atlantic City, NJ. We figure the beach, boardwalk, aquarium, etc will entertain the baby during the day and my husband and I can take turns in the casino at night. We are desperate to go away so I am hoping this works!

Any travel tips or words of wisdom you can share when traveling with a 5 month old would be greatly appreciated! It's my first time!

well that sounds like fun. Enjoy it. I dont have any tips. I havent been anywhere for more than a few hours with brooke yet and she is my first kid. Just make sure you pack enough i guess and give yourself plenty of time to get around and get to places.

I am getting pretty anxious about it. I am preparing for some fussiness and sleep issues but it is only 3 days so I think we can handle it!

Have fun and you should ask if the hotel can provide a crib most of them do, if he sleeps in one

I was surprised at how well Audrina travels. We visit Dan's family a lot and stay there for a few days at a time. I just make sure I have lots of supplies, clothes and her pack n play and we're good to go.

Her sleep schedule does get a little messed up when we do go visit, so you may have issues with that once you return home!

We took Jim to the coast at about that age, and it was a 3 hour drive. I thought it would be rough but it was totally fine. We overpacked for the trip, you won't need half the stuff you think you might.

Have fun! it always seems like you have to pack so much with a baby but, if you're going to AC, whatever you forget (which hopefully won't be anything), they'll have there so, try not to be too anxious and enjoy!

Thanks everyone! I am feeling better about it. I am trying not to overpack but it's not working! Luigi is a pretty even tempered baby so I am not expecting too much craziness. And if the biggest adjustment is going to be sleeping issues I'll take it! I'm a little concerned about him in the car. He really dislikes being strapped in his car seat. We are prepared to make a lot of stops if necessary! I also have some new toys that I am going to introduce if he gets restless. Hopefully the excitement of new toys will make him forget where he is!

And anyone planning on taking an 18 hour trip with an infant is a hero in my book!!!

Three hours goes by really fast! I regularly travel three hours away to visit my folks and even though kieran does not love the car seat, he does really well. He usually sleeps about an hour, is content to play for an hour, and fusses here and there for the last hour, but I just stop to nurse him and keep talking to him and it goes by quickly.

It is very rejuvenating to get away here and there. Even the sleep thing is not too bad when the payoff is a little bit of fun!! Good luck!
