now that our babies are getting close to the crawling stage, have you started to baby proof your house? what are you doing to baby proof?

I haven't...In the past i'ven ever baby proofed, just taught them to stay out of things (except for a gate going up the stairs)...It worries me now that my other kids are older...they have lots of toys with little peices (and my son loves legos)...I am always picking little things up off the ground even though I tell them to keep them in their room (I find money on the floor too)...I'm so worried jakob is going to get something like this in his mouth...I need to figure something out.

I havent done anything yet. I plan on getting a gate, outlet covers, and some latches for the kitchen cupboards. I'm not worried about the one with pots and pans, but will use latches where the chemicals are.

I dont go crazy with baby proofing. The only things Ill have to watch more closely once Blaine is on the move is A) Front door cant stand wide open or he may fall down the steps. B) The cords for the laptops & TV. C) The older kid's smaller toys.

I haven't baby proofed yet. I don't think Audrina is very close to getting around on her own yet...

The biggest obstacle for us will be not leaving things around where she can reach them. I'm a really tidy person, but we leave things like our bills, invoice book, etc on the coffee table. Finding a new place for that stuff will be fun!

We also have a split-level home so we have to put our baby gate up.

Dan changed all of our plugs to safety ones before we got pregnant. They don't require covers now, as you cannot stick things in them unless it's an actual plug end.

I also need to get some cupboard locks, and I think I will move all our cleaning products up high just to be double safe!

I am all about the baby gates. We had some with Jim and they were so helpful--we kept him penned into the living room and then we only had to baby-proof that one room. The gates we currently have are the kind that don't screw in, and I think they'll be hard for Jim to operate (now that we don't need to keep him penned in anymore, just Maggie!) so I'm thinking we might invest in some new ones that will be easier for him to use. I'm also thinking of getting one of these type things for our play room, so we can keep Maggie away from Jim's Legos but she can still be down there playing:

We dont usually do too much..Our house is only 2yrs old so our outlets have a built in safety shield too! We already use baby gates because of our old dog Biggest thing will be dog/cat food and water bowls. Our kitchen living/dining room are all one big open floor plan so we have a huge open space to somehow gate up!
