Lily's swing died. It was old so we knew it was coming but it just had to fail right now, tonight, when she needs it more than usual owing to her teething. The swing is a big part of her bedtime routine, so i have no idea how i am going to get her to sleep short of CIO which it might come to. I had to run to DH's parents house 5 min away and get their swing just so she would have something. Their swing is crappy and now I realized, after lugging it to my house, that her helmet prevents her from safely sleeping in it without her head drooping way forward, which isn't good for her. She rarely goes to sleep in it when we are over there. It doesn't swing enough for her. She likes big, kind of fast movement. I am looking on Craigslist tomorrow for a new one similar to what she had. I really hope we can find one. Last night was horrible she wouldn't sleep longer than 20 min naps until after 2-3 am then woke up at 8. I can't tell you the last time I've been truly rested. It's been weeks and weeks I can tell you that. Ok if you pray, pray she sleeps tonight without a working swing.

Olivia was the same way a few months ago and I HAD to break her of the habit. I couldn't keep spending $10 a week on batteries, plus my pediatrician said it wasn't good for them to sleep at night in it all the time, only on naps or occasions where they were sick.
If it were me, I just break the habit it of now, it should probably only take about 3 days and she will be sleeping in her own bed.

Good luck!

She doesn't sleep in her swing over night most nights. I just use it to get her relaxed then I pick her up and put her in her crib, and by then she is tired enough to fall asleep without any fuss and stays asleep. Most nights at least lol. Night before last night was the only way she would get sleep and stay asleep was being in her swing. Thankfully these nights are few and far between. I was mostly only ticked off because her swing failed on one of her restless nights. I managed to relax her enough by rocking her that when I put her in her crib, she rolled over and went to sleep. I may try that again tonight depending on her mood.
