I had never heard of this until Batoolee was diagnosed with it.
In short, when she begins to cry ( she very seldom cries, I know Im thanking the stars above ) She loses wind and postures with arms stiff and cuffed and eyes go back then she passes out for a second or so and is back with us and acts like she doesnt know what just happened and then gets sleepy.
its really scary when it happens and we try to blow in her face to get her to catch her breath to avoid her having the spell, but it usually fails.
The docs say its harmless and should outgrow it...but my instinct tells me that anyone having a seizure like episode cant be good for the brain.
That's scary!! I never had any experience with this but that doesn't sound normal to me. Hope someone else knows a little more about this. Could you go to another doc for answers to try and see if there is anything they can do? Hope she outgrows it quickly!!
2 different docs here in Saudi Arabia said theres no treatment except to just carefully watch her when she does have a spell so theres no self injury and it rides out ...She was diagnosed here however once we return to the States we will be taking her to her pedi for more medical follow up.
