I haven't myself but my step dad is a carpenter, and he know a good bit about everything else. He could probably build a house lol. He's redone pretty much every room in the house I grew up in. It was one constant project, plus we all helped out on his side jobs he did for other people.

My one tip from all that, is to always expect a bigger project than you think it's going to be lol. I don't think there's a single project that he's done that he didn't hit some sort of snag that made for more work than he originally planned. Of course the house was a poorly built one that was basically thrown together quickly in the 70s so it had a lot of issues that he kept encountering.

Nothing larger than painting. We've painted nearly every square inch of this house. Our next project is, & always was, redoing all the floors. Everytime we get ready to start, I get pregnant & we have to put it off.
That won't be happening again though. So we'll be putting in wood & tile in almost all areas of the house.
After that, we will upgrade our kitchen. That may be several years off though because we have really gotten serious about saving. We're getting old.

I've owned 2 homes now but no major renovations. My hubby did dig out the basement and built a floor so we can go down and play darts, it still needs a bit of work but don't have enough extra cash to finish it.

We've
-gutted our kitchen
-ripped up entire floors
-reinsulated an entire attic
-put in new windows
-added a bar sink
-gutted the basement and rebuilt it (rebuilt walls/waterproofed)
-raised a load bearing wall
-replaced doors & headers
-repaired cracks in foundation walls
-laid flooring (tile, laminent, vinyl)
-rewired eletrical

Basically, our whole house will be redone by the time we finish.
When you buy a crap house and are broke, you rely on the knowledge of others to guide you in DIY projects. I should say that we have been lucky to know professionals that have assisted us/taught us/supervised us through all of this. It also helps that DH worked with Habitat for Humanity after he got out of the military.

Our house got a total overhaul when we moved in because the previous tenants destroyed it. So most things are either new, or upgraded. Right now we are working on building a raised garden bed. We have the siding, but haven't actually done anything else.

We've done quite a few over the years. Ripped up carpet and put hardwood throughout the first floor and then later ripped up carpet and put laminate flooring on the lower level. Pulled up the bathroom floors and put in ceramic tile. That's all I can think of right now. My house desperately needs a coat of paint throughout, but I want to wait till we don't have toddlers any longer.

I should add, that my house is relatively new construction. It was built in 1991, so it's not in need of many renovations.
