how would you tell the people you invite to your little one's birthday party that they don't need any toys and books and REALLY need diapers/wipes and clothes in a certain size/season? Do you think that would be too demanding to ask??
I mean we literally do not need anymore toys. I have a living room full and Olivia's bedroom full, as well as some in the closet.

Thanks to Jaidynsmum for my siggy!!

Hopefully people will ask what do they need? I usually do that with my friends kids when Im going to their parties. We are the same way...my kids need clothes and not a lot of toys, especially with Christmas right around the corner! Its hard to ask without coming across as rude, even though some people would appreciate the gift guidance!

If you do invitations put the size on the card. I've seen that done and assumed they would prefer clothes.

I don't think it's rude at all to let people know what you need.

I would probably write something like this on the invitations:

"Please no toys, as we have more than we have room for at this time."

Depending on how many people you invite(and how many are friends and how many are family), perhaps you could tell family only to bring certain things and kind of leave it open to others you invited. At least it works that way in my family lol. My parents and inlaws and other close family members ask us what we need around our b-days and Christmas and everyone else just buys whatever lol. Mamato4 had a good idea as well. Definitely at least put sizes of clothes and diapers on all invitations though. Some people do have a more practical mind than others.

(we are kind of in the opposite boat right now. What we need are more age appropriate toys that can grow with her. We have have more diapers, clothes, and other practical supplies than we have room for lol).

I just tell them... most people ask what to get them anyway.

I would only tell them if they ask.Unless it was the grandparents, I feel comfortable telling them not to buy so much CRAP because we just don't have room for it all! But other than the grandparents, I wouldn't feel comfortable telling an invited guest exactly what I wanted them to bring. One of the reasons is because maybe they already bought something with her in mind? They found it on sale or something? I do that a lot to try and save money, so many times I have gifts well in advance of the birthday.
