We have scheduled and paid a deposit on a cruise this January. A whole bunch of DH's family are all going, too. We will be a 5 generation group. We are all pretty excited about it. As a kid, I was very prone to severe motion sickness. If Lily gets seasick, what are some things I should bring? I don't think she will, as she loves movement to help her sleep. I am planning on a bag of peppermints, not for her to eat, but smell as well as some candied ginger she can smell too. Anything else I should bring? Is ginger ale/sprite/ other upset tummy curing sodas ok for a then 13 month old? Is that candied ginger stuff ok in very small amounts for 13 month olds?

What are things you have given your little ones prone to motion sickness?

We just went on a cruise a week ago, and brought both the kids. I was and still am very prone to motion sickness in the car, etc. My Lily also started getting motion sick around age 2.5. If we go anywhere over an hour in the car we have to give her dramamine, and she has thrown up on trips shorter than that too.

I really thought we'd both get sea sick, but none of us did! So maybe you won't even have a problem. Also I have read that motion sickness rarely affects children under age 2. If she does get sick, you could probably give her a little bit of ginger ale. I don't think it's hurt her. Most likely though, being so young she will be just fine.
