I'm such a bad mommy, or at least I feel like one right now.

I put DS and my day care girl in the wagon to go pick up the kids from school. It's not the first time he's been in the wagon and it's gone well so far. However this time when we got to the school and were waiting in the school yard for the girls to come out, DS decided that he didn't want to sit in the wagon anymore. You guessed it, he stood up and fell head over tea kettle onto the tarmac. His head hit the pavement first, followed by his body flipping over himself.

It all happened in slow motion for me, I tried so hard to catch him before he hit and all I could manage to do was get one hand on his back, I couldn't get my other hand under him fast enough. Of course there were 15-20 other parents all standing there watching me as I let my son fall out of the wagon.

The poor little guy has the biggest goose egg on his forehead now. I feel terrible and there was nothing I could do to stop him fast enough.

Oh man, that just stinks. Poor little guy! I'm glad he's okay, kids will fall, and bumps and bruises will happen. It absolutely SUCKS when it's in public though so huge to you! I feel bad about their bumps enough without all the other eyes watching! BTDT. Ugh!

You are still a fantastic mommy though! Don't let this get you down! I'm sure he's had tons of cuddles since.

Thanks guys. I just feel so bad about his first big bump as it is, then to have all those extra eyes on me, it just made me feel even worse. It's doesn't seem to bother him though, we were at ringette tonight and he was smiling and dancing and flirting with all the girls just like he always does.

I know it's hard not to, but don't beat yourself up.
You're probably more hurt than he is.

If that's the most traumatic thing he has to talk to his therapist about, you're a great Mom. I won't even begin listing what my kids have survived.

Oh I'm sure it won't be the most traumatic thing, just his first. He is scared of the wagon now though, I couldn't for the life of me get him back in it.

oh that sucks and I sympathize with the horror and embarassment of it happening in front of everyone--you're a great mama, he's just a bad faller

Oh no, poor baby & Momma!

It makes it 100 times worse when it's in public! Makes you want to crawl under a rock! haha

Glad he's okay & don't beat yourself up...Happens to the best of us!

Poor baby! I can't even count the number of times Keelan has bumped his noggin. I'm sure he doesn't think you're a bad mommy!

Bad news, he is terrified of the wagon now. He takes one look at it and screams. Not sure how I'm going to get him back in it. I had to take the double stroller today to do the drop off and pick up at school.

throw candy in the wagon, that'll get him back in

fwiw, this morning Joey woke up with a big bruise on his right cheek (crib smash during the night) and then fell this am and got a bloody nose. I hate toddling

Seriously, K broke his nose at the library last year when he was 2.5 - one week after little rose was born. Totally public, but everyone survived.

I'm sorry he's scared of the wagon right now, but he'll get over it.

Just keep bribing and make a bug deal out of it when he goes near the wagon. One of my kids ran over another one with a vacuum cleaner. To this day, she hates vacuums, lol. One climbed on the side of a shopping cart with another in it and the whole thing tipped over. We couldn't go near a shopping cart after that for a long time.

Well I have to admit this isn't the worst thing that has happened to one of my kids.

When DD1 was 18 months we took her furniture shopping with us. We were looking at a bedroom set and she was looking in the drawers of a tallboy dresser. Keep in mind that she was little so she could only reach to pull out the drawer that was second from the bottom. Well the whole thing fell on her. She had the good sense to turn her head as it fell so it didn't hit her in the face, but it still required a trip to the hospital and 22 stitches to the back of her head.
