So Avery seems to be transitioning down to 1 nap per day. Some days she wants two, other days she wants one.

This is a real PITA!!

She is usually up for the day at 7am, and goes to bed around 7:30pm.

When she was on two naps per day, she took her naps around 10 and 2.

Well now she won't go down for me at 10 anymore. She is just not tired enough. If I wait until 11:30 she will go down easily.

The problem is that if she naps around then, she wants to take another nap around 4 or 5 and that is super late in the day. Bedtime gets pushed way back and I am not cool with that (my evenings are my evening and I like it that way).

I try sometimes to keep her up, give her lunch, and put her down around 12:30 (sometimes I can stretch it to 1) and that works much better for me and for her bedtime. But most of the time she is just miserable and tired and I can't keep her up that long.

Those of you who's little ones have already transitioned, how long did this "in-between" period last??

(sorry that was so long)

Keelan does two some days and some days only one. If he has one, I try to make sure it's late enough so that the evening is not a nightmare for him and me. Therearl are days, like yesterday where he just couldn't hang and fell asleep at around 6 till around 6:30. Which made bedtime nearly 10.

We typically don't have that issue. She is down to 1 nap now though. Usually around 1pm.

Yesterday, she slept in the car from 2ish-4 while we drove back to town. She still went to bed by 8pm with no problem.

Now Saturday, she would not nap. She was so cranky, so whiney, and sorry...but super annoying. She finally napped at about 1pm-1:30! It sucked. Then she napped again from 4:15-6:30. She went to bed around 9pm (but we had taken her to my mom's so we could go out for DH's birthday) and she wanted to keep her up a little later that night.

Our initial transition was no problem. That was over a month ago. But now that she's getting her molars, she's more unpredictable and needing a morning snooze more often than not. I try to be out of the house most days around 10ish. If she sleeps it's only for about 20 minutes. And while that does push her afternoon one back, it's not so late that it affects night bedtime. Have you tried limiting that morning nap if she does want to take one. Even if Josie only gets 5 minutes of shutbeye in the late morning it's enough to recharge her batteries for several hours. (maybe my kid is just weird though).
