DH and I just moved the coffee table into the spare room for now after Lily gave herself for second ever bruise. She never goes into the kitchen and usually excess is blocked by chairs from the kitchen table but with her crawling its high time we baby proofed our cabinets. She doesn't like the kitchen much because she hates hard floors, but I keep it blocked off anyways. I will start on the baby proofing of cabinets tomorrow. The living room is done and safe for her though. All electrical cords out of the way or blocked off, side tables removed from the area, and the coffee table is gone, too. Our living room is stripped down to the bare minimum lol. I've been meaning to redecorate anyways so maybe ill get going on that at some point and keep it baby friendly.

What are some changes you've done to your furniture/decoration arrangement to make it safer for baby?

We just have half the living room superyarded off and their room is safe that we can gate her in there sometimes to play.

We have really not done much to baby proof... I did move everything dangerous out of the lower cabinets in the kitchen and put in outlet covers. Other than that, she pretty much has free reign of the first floor (I do usually close the bathroom door because she is obsessed with the plunger and the toilet). She used to be obsessed with cords, but enough times of being told no and she knows for the most part that they are not for playing. She does love to climb the stairs, so I just make sure that I don't leave her alone for more than a minute or two. Usually if she wants to climb, she will get on the first stair and then wait for me to come to her even though she can climb all the way upstairs on her own. Pretty much she can get into everything, but she knows what isn't allowed and can usually be trusted not to get into it if I have to leave the room for a minute. We do have a pretty open layout in our house, which helps a lot. I know if she walks out of my sight, I better go check on her within a minute or so.

We have put in outlet covers, cabinet things, and have a baby gate on our stairs that go down to the basement. We try to keep him off the entertainment center and although he used to constantly mess with the vases and floor plants on the floor he's been told no enough that he pretty much leaves them alone now. He loves walking around the coffee table and leaves the stuff on it alone for the most part but I do try to push it out of his reach.

We do keep the doors to the bedroom besides his and the bathroom closed. He loves to roll the toilet paper out!

we put a baby gate up at the top of the stairs and fenced off the tv and wine bottles/wine glasses that are kept on the bottom of our bakers hutch in our dining room. We also put on those outlet covers too. She pretty much has free rein of the kitchen, except for the cabinet under neath the sink. We probably need to install those cabinet hooks, but last time we tried I had the hardest time installing them so I gave up! I never let her be unattended in the kitchen anyways, so what we're doing is working for now...

We use a gate for the stairs and cabinet locks under the sick where the cleaners are and that's about it. I didn't have to do much more when DD was a baby and so far so good.
