Soo, I just found out today that I do in fact have Gestational diabetes. Fml. *sigh*
I just wanted one easy pregnancy, is that so much to ask?! The past 2 weeks have sucked! First I go into preterm labor with a bad bladder infection, having awful consistent contractions lasting for 1.5 weeks.
Then, we have been dealing with Bryce's SUA & the stress that goes along with that, stressing that he is growing like a normal baby.
Then, I fail my 1hr & have to do the awful 3hr only to find I do indeed have GD...

This pregnancy is becoming harder & more complicated by the day. It's not fair. I know life isn't fair & blah, blah, blah but today, I feel really sorry for myself

*sigh* I could use a hug.

it'll be ok mama! As soon as you have that baby in your arms it'll all be worth it.
We had several GD mamas here, i'm sure they can offer you lots of good advice.

I'm sorry to hear that I've had it with both my pregnancies and it's definitely annoying but the outcome is usually always good.

Awwww! I was hoping you had passed. Did you fail terribly or just a little high?
The good thing about GD is that it's usually treatable with dietary changes.
Look on the bright side: if you stick to the diet, you won't gain a bunch of weight! That means less to have to lose later.
I think Angie lost weight on the GD diet. She'll be a good resource for you.
Hang in there. It will all be worth it when you see that beautiful, healthy baby boy!

Thanks girls! Ya'll are the best!

I failed the 1hr & 2hr parts by 10 points each. Not too bad so hopefully that will help my diet not be as strict?

I'm so sorry. I was hoping you would pass it. One day at a time, it will be worth it all soon.

I was dx with GD, the diet wasn't bad and my sugars were controlled easily, I even ate cake a couple times with no high readings, and I delivered at my pre-pregnancy weight and lost weight quickly after delivery. I know it's stressful and scary but it's more common then some realize and not too bad.

I bet It won't be nearly so bad as you think! The time will go by super fast and that babies face will make every annoying second worth it.
Try and enjoy your pregnancy anyway

Good thing is, you can probably control it with diet alone.
I'm stuck with diabetes all the time. It's a pita, but you do what you have to for a healthy baby, and think of all the sweets you will get to eat after the baby is born. Yum!

Hopefully diet changes alone will work for you. I hope the rest of the pregnancy gets better.

(((hugs))) I know I am a stranger but I hope my virtual hugs help. It sounds really frustrating and my one fear is getting GD. Did you have it with last pregnancies? I hope to avoid it this time around too. I thought this was going to be something minor when I opened the thread but I definitely feel the pity party is warranted.

What is SUA?

Sorry your pregnancy has been so rough. But just think after your little guy is here you will forget all of this and have a beautiful baby to focus on

Thank you ladies!
Ya'll are the best!

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic this morning. What choice do I have? ha
As long as my baby stays healthy, that's all that matters in the end...SO bring it on pregnancy

SUA, is single umbilical artery, meaning he has one artery instead of two running through his umbilical cord. Can cause him to not get enough nutrition from that one artery & fall off the growth chart & have to be taken early, so we are keeping a close eye on him with a perinatologist & by-weekly growth scans. So far so good

I'm glad you're feeling better hon!

I was diagnosed with GD at 13 weeks, and I managed it without the need for insulin until almost the very end. You can do this! There are tons of tasty recipes out there that can work to help with any cravings you might be having. Don't hesitate to ask anything, we had quite a few ladies with GD in here I believe.
