I'm on the fence if I want to do "Santa" with Nara and any future children. When I was a child my family did 1 major gift from Santa and the stockings but that was it. The rest of the gifts were from family and friends. How do you guys handle Santa? Have any of you had bad side effects from older children? Have any of you not done it?

I do the Santa thing and will until they no longer believe. And honestly, I will do what I can to help them believe for as long as they can. I LOVE Christmas, Santa and everything else. I think there's a sort of magic in believing.

We do santa, from Santa, the kids get 1 big gift, a family gift and stocking stuffers. We try not to go overboard on christmas because we want to focus on giving to others and this has been great for us. Our kids have never cried about not getting something and never complained.

We don't do santa here. I don't like to really lie to any of our kid/s. I'm totally fine with others doing Santa though. DH and I were both raised with no "Santa" and we decided to raise our kid/s the same way.

I'll tell any of our kids the truth about Santa and who he really is.

I don't pretend gifts are from Santa and I don't tell them Santa is real but I also don't tell them he isn't. We like to read/watch versions of the Santa/St Nick story from others countries so the kids are aware that Santa has many histories. When Sterling was old enough to ask, we talked about how everyone chooses what they want to believe about Santa. Some think he's real, some don't, some aren't sure, some think he's fun to pretend, and some believe he is a spirit of love and giving that we bring to others. He loves Santa and we make cookies for him on Christmas Eve

That pretty much sums it up for me too! My parents went out of their way to make it "real" to me as a kid and I appreciate that now and do it with my kids! My oldest (11) is just now getting to where he doesn't believe in Santa and the tooth fairy ect ect. It's kind of sad but now I have an extra helper to help me with what I did for him for the last 10 years! They're only little once and for such a short time, the longer I can make life seem magical and wonderful the better! Because being an adult is just not that much fun! =\

Oh, and in our house Santa brings 1 rather nice gift for each of them and fills their stockings. The rest of the gifts are from us and family.

OMG I STILL believe in Santa, I love that man!!! I couldn't wait to have kids so I could do it all over again

I want my girls to believe in Santa as long as possible, its so magical and such a great part of childhood. Some of my greatest, funniest memories were around Christmas time. I want the same for my girls. All gifts will be from Santa here, cause one day they will figure it out and know mommy/daddy and the rest of the family WAS Santa, I dont need instant gratification
