He had cancer of the liver...that was treated. But he also has cirrhosis and needs a transplant. It looks like he will be getting one in the morning. Everyone please pray/keep in your thoughts that the liver looks good, so they can do the surgery. And that the surgery goes very well. That his body accepts the liver. And for the family that lost their loved one.
*eta: At about 7EST they brought in for preop and the surgery. It's a 6 hour surgery, plus preop. Expected to be done around 2pm.

So the surgery started yesterday morning around 9. It was expected to take about 6 hours. So we thought he would be out around 3. But that didn't happen. Everything had been going perfectly until right at the end. Then he started losing too much blood and his blood pressure was dangerously low. He wasn't out of the OR untl about 6. So 3 hours longer than expected. But he was still not doing well at all. He ended up having I believe it was 28 units of blood by this morning. And despite being on a lot of medicine to keep his blood pressure up it was still too low.
So at 6 this morning they brought him back in to look for a bleeder. He was in for 4 more hours. They found not 1, but 2 bleeders. They got that fixed and he is back in the ICU. Blood pressure still low, but they aren't having to use so much medicine to keep it okay. And he hasn't had to have more blood transfusions, though they may give him some platelets.
But yesterday and then until about 11 today when he finally heard that he was doing okay was really long and hard. As long as he continues to get better he is coming off the ventilator tomorrow. He can breath on his own fine now, but they won't take him off the ventilator until they are sure they don't need to go back into the OR. And he is been kept in a medical coma as well.
