So last night after little rose feel asleep, my right breast had this horrid burning sensation. It wasn't like mastitis - no lump, hard spot, soreness. It wasn't in a particular spot and seemed to pulsate and radiate from the nipple. While I've burning sensations before, it was never this bad. I literally was in tears it was so bad. I put ice on it and it did help. It was also weird, that if I smushed my breast, it felt better too.

Today, it's better (even after a bad night of sleep for little rose and myself), but I still have this dull burning sensation. No fever, no chills, everything else is fine (except the lack of sleep)
Any thoughts?

Was in quite a bit of pain again last night. This morning I had some swelling and red.
So, I went to walk in with little rose today to see if it was thrush.

The PA said little rose didn't have thrush and had only a little redness in one ear, so she seemed fine. She took one look at my breast and said early mastitis. Didn't do anything but a visual (8 feet away) exam. Last time the dr actually examined me.

I have a script for Keflex. Not sure if I agree with her diagnosis, but I'll try the meds and see what happens. I'm definitely tired and still have the burning sensation off and on. Warm compresses make it feel worse, cold better.

Weird huh?

I recently had mastitis and didn't have any burning, but I suppose everybody could be different! Hope the rx works

I didn't have burning either when I had mastitis last summer. That's a big reason why I'm not certain this is mastitis.

Ouch! I hope the meds work. I'd be questioning the diagnosis too... but is mastitis (never had it) one of those "every case is different" things? Like a cold, it's pretty much the save give or take a few symptoms? KUP!

I would get a second opinion. If it is thrush and you take antibiotics, you'll only make it worse!

I was exhausted last night and did have some burned in both breasts. It wasn't anywhere near the same pain as before though.

I'll schedule my annual and bring it up with the dr. I know I need to do another mammogram (abnormal one in April 2010), but have been either pregnant or bf'ing ever since. My dr wants me to wait 6 months after I stop bf'ing before I get another one, unless I feel lumps or other abnormalities. So, we'll see what he says.

Well, I think I'll call the dr today. Burning sensation is coming back more today - this morning even. So maybe the meds aren't working or it's something else. bah! I hate this.
