So for you mommas with older kids, what do you use to layer under tshirts after baby has grown out of onesies? Right now, I use long-sleeve onesies a lot to layer under tshirts. That way I can get multiple seasons out of the tshirts, and not be as concerned about what size the shirts are when I buy them (I like to buy on clearance a season ahead if possible!). If I watch the sales and coupon codes, I can get a set of onesies for under $8 or $10.

What can I get in the toddler sizes that look good, and are affordable, for layering? I've looked at some thermal shirts at some stores, but the prices are nowhere near what I could get with the onesies! I'm also considering hitting up the thrift stores at some point to see what they have there. The Goodwill by me is 50% off every Saturday!

I don't layer as much once they outgrow the onesies. I have done undershirts for M, but not with K. M doesn't even wear them as much.

What I do have them do is wear a light sweater or sweat shirt (or heavy one depending on the weather) with a lighter long sleeve shirt.
Mom to M (6), K (4), and little rose (18 months)

Now that Brynlee is out of onesies (and has been for a while minus the rare occasion that like today where she got a new outfit from someone so she is wearing it), she just wears light long sleeve shirts with a sweater/hoodie/jacket/coat....whichever is needed.

Have you checked Wal-Mart? They have solid colored long sleeve shirts for rather inexpensive. You could always layer with those.

We don't really layer. If an something is required for the look of the outfit, we use just use a plain undershirt.
Thank you claire1979 for my cute new siggy!

I don't really layer very often. I usually just put a long sleeved shirt on them in the winter.

Thank you Vicki for my new siggy!

I layer from time to time, but Keelan has a bunch of long sleeved onesies that he hasn't grown out of. They make them up to 24 months sizes, I think.

E is still in 18-month clothes, and I will probably buy 24-month onesies if it's still cool when he moves up to the next size. DH wears undershirts every day, even under tshirts in the heat of summer! So I guess that's why we do the same thing for E. He wears a onesie (even a short-sleeved onesie under a long-sleeved tshirt) all the time. The only exception was the summer -- we just put him in tshirts then.

Perhaps I'll get away from the layered look when we get into toddler sizes this fall. Or look at Wal-Mart, thanks for the suggestion Mandy. We don't go into Wal-Mart too often.. We bought his pajamas there when he was a newborn through till 3 or 6 months. It is sooo hard to find anything in Wal-Mart and ours never has enough lanes open. I don't ever remember seeing plain tshirts at Target, so perhaps I will need to check Wal-Mart out!
