Doula training was this past weekend and it was AMAZING. It was such an information overload. Very emotional, very physical, very intense. I learned a lot about myself, and made some very wonderful new friends from all walks of life. I have a lot of work still ahead of me to complete the course, but in the meantime I might be diving right into things and attending a birth (maybe, waiting on the go ahead from the client) in as little as 3 weeks!
I have a totally different perspective now of what a doula is and does, and can't believe I've gone through 2 pregnancies already without! I will for certain have one for my next!
I don't really know what to say about it, today is my first day to really sit and process it all. I'm good to answer any questions though if anyone has any interest!
Alexis! She is a very TALL girl! 34 inches! That floored me today at her appointment. I knew she was tall, and we'd need to change her car seat soon, but yeah... soon is NOW. Thankfully we have one from Kairi that is still good, but we might go ahead and buy another one anyway. I never really liked that seat, nor did Kairi... we'll see. Alexis is 23lbs, meeting most milestones. The only one is she's not at all interested in body parts. All you can ask her is "where's your nose?" and that's it. She'll poke her eyes, so that's coming, but she just doesn't care. It's funny how different kids are, Kairi had that down months ago by comparison.
She's a happy girl though, still breastfeeding like a champ, sleeps like a rock, loves her big sister. I have no complaints. I'm feeling much better about the possibility of adding another now.
So yes, that's my update. I've got some workshops coming up for my doula stuff, but I'll still be around.
DS just took interest in his body parts about two weeks ago and all of a sudden went from just knowing his belly to knowing his hair, eyes, nose, mouth, ears and toes in a matter of a day. It was the weirdest thing.
Sounds like a great start to your Doula training! Can't wait to hear more.
The training sounds great and getting to attend a birth already - WOW! So happy that you are enjoying it all. And happy to hear that Alexis is doing so well too. Come back and update us on your training!
