Okay, so I'm kinda anal and I like things to be organized when possible! I have all of E's clothes in boxes by size... The clothes is already grown out of, and the upcoming sizes... Even if he can still fit in some clothes in his current size, I will go ahead and box them up so everything is put away at once (and doesn't get mixed in with other clothes). I'm in the "size transition" stage right now! Pretty soon I'll go ahead and take the 24 month clothes out because some 18-month clothes are getting way too small, but will have them in separate drawers than the 18-month clothes. Then when over half of the 18 month clothes just don't fit well anymore, I'll go ahead and pack them up.
Anyone else weird like me?? Truly, I have plenty of 24 month clothes, I just always seem to squeeze E into his clothes as long as possible! It's a way to keep him young I guess!
She wears her clothes until they don't fit. Then I take all of the stuff out and put it in a bin. All of our MANY bins are in our extra room that we don't use as a bedroom. There's tons. I even buy the big bins. :/ We're keeping it all for now since we plan to have a 2nd. If we have a girl, we'll have lots of clothes. If we have a boy, I'll start sending the bigger stuff to my sister (she is having a girl in April) and I'll also sell stuff and buy boy things.
I just cleared all of her 12 month stuff out of her drawers because she doesn't fit any of it anymore.
I don't pack up clothes early. My kids wear them until they don't fit, even if there are 2 or 3 different sizes in their drawers simultaneously.
However, I do have labeled bins. Sometimes if sizes are really off I will pack them in the box of clothes that are the size the odd-sized piece fits like.
This. Right now Evan has some 6-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months clothes in his dresser/closet. I do put everything in labelled bins when the kiddos outgrow them, but I refuse to put stuff away when it still fits, unless it's out of season.
Yeah -- this is why I am weird... because I want to box everything up at the same time, I will put clothes in the bin that may still fit! Seriously, I have to put all the tshirts together, all the jeans together, all the khakis together, etc.! When we moved late last year I had to throw outgrown clothes into the bin without organizing them. After we got all moved and settled, I went through the bin again to organize the clothes into the bin. I really could just do the same thing with outgrown clothes after ALL the clothes are outgrown I guess, but I haven't. I even put matching outfits/sets into gallon Ziploc bags so all the pieces stay together...
I am blessed that I have a nice supply of clothes in each size due to hand-me-downs and a very generous sister. I was actually planning on keeping E's current khakis out for awhile (I was hoping they'd last through spring), because we are STILL rolling the pants up, and the waist is still a little big (there is a tie, which we used to make it tight, and now we just keep it untied). However, the space between the crotch and waist (whatever that is called??) is going to get too short in the near future. So I picked up some clearance sweats at Children's Place for $3 apiece.
I have all of her baby socks, baby mittens, baby bibs, etc in a bin. I have all the clothes together by size (mostly), but I don't sort them by type of clothing. I have enough trouble just cleaning out her drawers! I put off cleaning out her 12 month stuff until her drawers and closet were so full that I had clothes in baskets cluttering her room!
