Evan will be 1 week old tomorrow. I was discharged on thursday but he is still in the nicu. The nurse really isn't supposed to say anything but she confided that she doesn't see him going home next week either. She said he is doing well and making his tiny improvements along the way but he still has a way to go. This is so hard you guys. I miss my baby.

*Hugs* I am sorry honey. I am sure it is very hard to not take little Evan home with you. Just know that he is in the best place right now. I am sure he is being very well taken care of and you will have him home soon.

It's great to know that the NICU is taking such great care of him.

He's not really having any difficulties outside of the normal stuff. He is breathing ok and he is starting to take a bottle. But he only takes it for a few seconds before he gets fatigued. So most of his food goes through a tube. So they want to work on that.

I am sorry. That was one of my biggest fears with the twins. I can't imagine how hard it is to have to leave your baby at the hospital while you go home. You can rest assure that he is in great hands, and getting stronger every day, so that he can come home to you. Hang in there!

Aww the poor little one! And poor mama! Listen, Ive been through the NICU with my twin girls born at 30 weeks. Things change in an instant. Dont worry too much about what the nurse said, he may very well be coming home next week, she really shouldnt have shared her opinion! Are you able to spend much time at the hospital? I know it is really hard having a toddler as well as a baby in the hospital. I had a 19 month old at home while I was trying to go back and forth to the hospital. All you can do is try to make it as often as you can, while still making time at home. Its so horrible to try to balance that out. I hope hes home with you soon!

I'm sorry you had to go home without him. It was usually feedings that kept my kids in the nicu. They do just suddenly figure it out though. They always told me to plan on going home around their due date, but only one of my kids actually stayed that long (my 25 weeker). The rest came home around 36-37 weeks. Take lots of pics. He'll be home before you know it.

I'm so sorry, praying that he gets to go home soon! I agree, that nurse should not have shared her opinion. She's not a dr.

I know personally how hard it is. I wouldn't wish this wait on my worst enemy.
Just remember that he WILL be home soon. I know it's hard to wait.
Also, doctors usually estimate the due date as the date for going home, and that's so parents don't get disappointed if they estimate an earlier date and it doesn't work out. If all he has is a feeding issue, he will be home before you know it.
Hugs! Hang in there! Y'all will get through this.
