Can anybody recommend a good, sensitive heart rate monitor? Evan is making good progress and I am getting hopeful that he might come home soonish, dare I hope for next week? Anyway they say his heart stops beating once in a while which apparently is very common among babies. They said its nothing unusual at all and his heart restarts on its own after about 3 seconds. But of course with him being a premie I am still nervous about his well being. So I am trying to locate a good heart rate monitor for when he comes home. Anybody have any experience with these?

Are you looking for an all day monitor or just for night? My friend used the angel care monitor and loved it. Her sons heart rate would drop and an alarm would go off. It gave her great peace of mind when she put him to bed at night.
Ani, I don't have a specific type of monitor to recommend but I did just want to let you know that I have a nephew who was born 3 whole months early and weighed under 3 lbs...when he got to come home he had a heart monitor but he never had any complications at all, grew up healthy and a genius...he's in his first year of college and already has a job as a computer programmer with a private company making more money than I ever have in my adult life :O so just a little success story to put your mind at ease!
I have the angel care monitor. It monitors movement more than heart rate but breathing and heart rate kinda go hand in hand.
I had 2 kids come home on monitors. The nicu set it up with our insurance company and they brought it to my house and showed me how to use it. We actually had a pulse ox for breathing and then a heart monitor for heart rate. My one daughter stopped breathing twice because of a virus and she ended up back in the nicu for a week. I was so glad to have the monitors. She was only 34 weeks when she came home though. I used the angel care monitor with Natalie and never had any problems with her.
