I think it is totally fine! I remember back in the 80's my cousin had a popular doll called "My Buddy":

and nobody thought it was a big deal at all! And I remember I had this kids record album called "Free To Be You And Me" which was this big progressive 70's show that Marlo Thomas created to show that boys and girls could be equal as far as gender roles. There was a song called "Williams's Doll" about a little boy who wanted a doll and everyone was horrified until his grandma stepped in and said that he should have one because it would help teach him how to be a father later on. It's really cute:

My Buddy reminds me of Chucky from "Child's Play" minus the red hair and freckles.

My DH had a My Buddy doll! His dad always talks about bringing it out again for Kaylee to play with!

Holy flash back! I loved that whole dog/hydrant dude. Totally forgot about it. So cool. Wish TV was still the same.

I have 4 boys and we have several dolls, they love to play with them! It doesn't bother me at all!
