Has anyone switched the kiddos over from their crib to a toddler bed yet? or thinking about it?

My older son we switched at 16 months and now that the new little guy is nearly 17mo I'm thinking we will switch him soon too. He is such a fantastic sleeper that I'm not too worried. He lays right down and goes to sleep well every night. I don't have to hold him or give him milk or anything anymore.. He is alllll about bedtime. I totally think he is ready. & it would be nice if he could wake up & play with his toys without me having to get up and lift him out. Once we do the switch I will do like with my other and put the baby gate up in the doorway for the first while. That way I know he doesn't sneak out in the mornings. Haha.

Now... to find a bed that I like hmmm..... I've always kind of liked those car beds. LOL...

I love those beds. They also have a fire truck one which I really want. But, I am not planning to put him into his bed anytime soon. He will self ween since we co-sleep. He is very much so a cuddler at night. We love it!

We don't really switch until closer to age 2, and only then if they actually show signs climbing out, etc. I just don't see a need for it. Sebastian has been sleeping through the night since 5 months and most mornings he wakes up LATER than his sisters, so we are all up & awake anyway! We have a good sleep routine going and I don't wanna mess with that!

That being said, probably closer to age 2, we will convert his crib to a toddler bed. We won't be getting a separate toddler bed since the crib is convertible and when he outgrows that length-wise, we will just buy him a twin bed.

With my older two, I don't think we switched until age 2 or 2 1/2. Prob do the same with Cody. My kids are tall so it gets to a point where they are too long for the crib. When I first make the transition, we always put a gate up in the doorway to their room so they can't wander about the house.

We won't switch for a little while. Gary is an awesome sleeper, I am afraid to mess with that hahaha. I think around his second birthday we will switch.

I have been thinking about it...IDK I want one of the "cool" beds for him but his crib converts to a toddler bed... Amber never used her crib. She slept with me and then went right to a twin size bed at 2....

Madison sleeps on a regular bed just fine at daycare. At home she's in her crib, which also converts to a toddler bed. She is a great sleeper. I don't want to mess with it. I also need to anchor her furniture to the wall before I allow her to be in her room by herself. I can only imagine what her room would look like the first few go rounds. Because sometimes she plays in her bed or talks to herself before she goes to sleep!

We will probably wait as long as possible. I jsut don't see the need to switch until he's climbing out or something. Otherwise, he's in there and safe!! More of a peace of mind for me!!

^ That's exactly what we did with my older son His bed was the crib/bed convertible type with an 18" extension mattress piece. It was nice because it was longer than a crib mattress ..but it was skinnier than a twin.. so sheets were ****** impossible. LOL. (..in case anyone has one of these & is wondering wtheck to do... I would buy a crib sheet & also a matching pillowcase and put the pillowcase on the extension piece. I tried a few sets of twin sheets in it was swimming in them.) This time we don't have the same type.

I should also add that my kiddo is a crazy CLIMBING MACHINE. Hahaa. He can put his leg up and flip his way right out of his pack-n-play I keep in the livingroom (for when I cook) so I'm sure he's going to figure out the crib pretty darn soon. I'd rather switch before we figure out that new skill the hard way. LOL

..& on a funny sidenote.. when my big guy was just starting out in his toddler bed I didn't put any rails on it or anything. I wanted him to learn on his own not to cram himself against a railing while he slept soooo I just put his big beanbag chair next to the bed. HAHAA! He only fell out twice that I can remember and both times were hilarious.

I'm not looking to switch yet. His crib converts but i would like it to remain a crib for when i need to put another baby in there (hopefully sooner rather than later lol) then get him a cool toddler bed when we are ready.

I keep thinking about this actually. But like others, I don't want to mess with her awesome ability to sleep haha.. (minus the odd wake during the night).

Not at the moment, but if he starts climbing out of the crib I'll change my mind quick!
We switched my dd when she turned 2 and I wasn't sure if she was ready (but I was pregnant with Nathan). But she was more than ready and I wonder if I should have done it sooner.
However Nathan HAS just discovered climbing in and out of my dd's bed and I know if I switched him, he'd constantly do that before falling asleep. Maybe we'll think about it again when the novelty has worn off

No, I am going to wait as long as possible for that! I like to know they are safe, and once the toddler bed comes out, they are up and all over! She has not tried to climb out yet, and her crib actually makes it hard for her to do that despite how tall she is. we did not switch her sister until she was over 2.5.

We are not ready at all to switch. Like others I want to wait as long as possible. I am not sure what we will do though because her crib does convert but I think that looks a little odd. I kinda just want to get a toddler bed or a twin bed but I am afraid a twin bed will be too tall.
