I saw Sarah mention that Gary uses a spoon and it made me wonder how the LO's are doing with utensils? And what kind of cups are they using lately?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gio uses a fork well, but he keeps turning spoons over and spilling the contents in his lap He's been using a fork for a bit so we really need to work on the spoon skills haha. He can also use a regular cup (with no top) but i usually use sippy's or ones with a straw. He does well with a cup if i hold it and he can "control it" if he holds it himself too but lots of times the drink ends up on his shirt HAH so i try to only give him water vs. milk if i'm gonna let him have a big boy cup.

Drake has been using a fork and a spoon for a few months now. Well, when he eats. He can feed himself yogurt very well with a spoon and eats mac and cheese with his fork. It's so adorable.

I could basically put Eve's name where Gio's is and say this is Eve lol

I haven't been giving him too many utensils still. He eats really well with his hands, although when I give him a little fork, he does pretty well. Spoon, no. Liquidy, mushy things I still prefer feeding him myself. I am pretty sure I introduced utensils a bit later with my girls, i.e. after 18 months, and their coordination skills were better & they learned faster, plus there wasn't so much mess when using a spoon. Sebastian is really content eating w/ his hands or me spoon-feeding him so we're fine for now.

As for cups, he mostly uses take-n-toss sippys. He can drink REALLY well from both a straw or a regular cup, but I have to hold those for him.

Same here, i usually don't bother with the spoon. I started giving him the fork a while ago because he got mad when i fed him hopefully he will hold off on the spoon for a bit until he gets the idea that you're not supposed to turn it upside-down

^^ Pretty much the only reason I started the utensils is bc he started grabbing it and wanting to. So i did lol. He pretty much only uses the take n toss sippies too, of course he calls them babas. He calls Daddy's beer a baba. . .lol

This is pretty much Cody to a T. I have a tiny fork that he can coordinate pretty well but he'll get frustrated with the food falling off it, so he'll use his hands. Stuff like yogurt, applesauce...I still spoon feed him. Way too messy otherwise!

J is a lot like S & Cody too. He can do it.. but I don't have time for that. HAHA. It's too messy and I don't want to sit there. I like to shovel and be done with it. LOL. I'd say he eats 75%-hands & 25%-spoonin'

As for cups... same answer.. LOL. He can drink from a straw or just a regular cup ..but I hold it so he doesn't flip it. Otherwise we use the Take-N-Toss cups for everything. We never really did a bottle here for long. He was a bOOb man till he was 9+ months ..then I switched him to formula and a bottle. It was such a pain in the tush to clean those stupid things. I had the Vent Aire's so there's like 4 pieces. Gahhhhh. After a few weeks of that nonsense I was like uhhhh... garbage! He had been drinking water from a sippy since he was 6mo so I just put the formula and then milk in them too. He never cared one way or another.

Haha I just posted in the food thread. I prefer to feed too (much cleaner LOL) but Nathan was getting angry at mealtimes until I figured out that he wanted to be a big boy and use utensils.
He uses the take n toss cups too

I wish we could use the take n toss sippys! Joe takes the lid off of those and dumps them over himself. :/

I haven't given Katelyn utensils at all. She is fine with using her hands and me feeding her liquidy stuff with a spoon.

She uses sippy cups with straws. We are still using ones with handles so I want to buy some without handles. She doesn't really use the handles anyways.
