Here's an introduction of myself, a vent already.
But I have to just get the anger released and then move on.
I am very, very grateful to have access to health insurance. That being said, our policy will not cover ANYTHING (no visits, no testing, no nothing) until I pay out of pocket $1000. This is a POS, not a high deductible plan. And they don't see the business irony of covering 100% newborn nursery care, but not mother's care. What's one reason for high nursery care (your bucks, Mr. Insurance man)? Lack of prenatal care. And with a $1000 price tag, which I'll pay, that's a hefty burden for many.
I've often been frustrated over this exact same issue. I don't understand how the educated individuals who run the health care system can be so stupid, but it happens. I'm sorry your out of pocket costs are going to be so high.
Vent away! I am sorry, that is really crappy. I ended up with about $4,000 in copays for dd1. Turns out they treated pregnancy just like any other hospital stay so i owed 10% of everything (dd was 6 weeks early and i had a csection so it added up quick). So i understand your frustration. I changed health insurance plans since then so i hope it is better this time around.
