Are you planning a home birth? A birthing center birth? Hospital? Planned c-section?
All of my children were born in a hospital setting but I am seriously contemplating a home birth this time around so long as i don't run into the issues I had with my 2nd and 3rd DD. Both my 1st (DD) and my last (DS) pregnancies were 5 hour labors with no more then 7-10 minutes worth of pushing, and though DS was a 10 pounder I see no reason why I could not deliver at home surrounded by our children
I am curious to what everyone else has planned or is considering
A home birth has always appealed to me but seeing that I have had 2 c-sections, one emergent and one due to pre-e, that probably won't happen. Not to mention it's illegal in Alabama... this is a dumb state I'll probably just end up with a c-section in the hospital
My older children were born in NY and NJ where at the times of their births home births were illegal. I am in Florida now and the state law requires any insurance that covers pregnancy and deliver to cover all options, home birth, birthing center, hospital, midwife ect So we are seriously giving it thought this time. Especially since the c-section rate in Florida is very high as apparently they have a tendency to push for it even when it is not a medical necessity

I didn't know that was illegal in Alabama! I learn something new everyday! As much as I am for all natural everything, I would be scared of something going wrong and me needing emergency medical care. I will be in a hospital. I would like to have no medication though. Especially since this is my first, and I don't really know what to expect, I would really have peace of mind knowing that in a hospital, they would be able to treat me for whatever, really quickly.
I'll be at the hospital with an epidural. We have a comfortable L&D at our hospital and I just like the stress-free feeling of being right there if anything were to go wrong.
More power to those of you that want home births and are able to do it without meds. Personally, I like to take advantage of convenience and medical advancements. I know how bad my contractions were with the first one, I really don't want to go through that pain again.
I wanted a hospital water birth last time, was disappointed i couldn't get that as i was progressing to fast... i really want to experience a water birth, im hoping i can fix it up so that i can go into hospital as soon as contractions start so that they will allow me to go in the birthing pool *fingers crossed*
At hospital will be induced and hoping to do it with just gas and air again maybe in the bath because they have been redoing the whole delivery suite and I saw on the plan that the rooms will all have a bath in them I hope so still taking the gas and air in the bath with me though lol
I know a couple of people have mentioned home births now. Did you know we have a home birth board here on JM? Check it out if you are interested.
Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I fully recommend that EVERYONE what The Business of Being Born. It's available through watch instantly on Netflix and very eye opening. I wanted to pursue a home birth and mentioned it to DH when we started TTC. He quickly told me I was insane and that hospitals are there for a reason. After watching this documentary, he was supportive of my decision. After watching a couple of others, he INSISTS that I have our babies at home if there are no complications.

I did not know that we had a home birth board! Thanks for the link! And DH and I will definitely be watching that movie
Most likely in hospital and with meds, I have no tolerance for pain! More power to those of you that do home birth and med free. And the thought of a c section scares me, I can't imagine being cut while awake! I can't stand needles, so that would probably get to me. So I hope that doesn't have to happen. A friend of mine is having a c section in aug, shes tiny and had to have a c section first her first son.
I will have another c-section. I tried for a vaginal birth with my first, but I have a heart shaped uterus which makes it hard for the baby to be in the proper position. I've had 2 previous c-sections, so I don't think I will have much choice.
I will definately be in the hospital. I've had two babies go to the NICU. It was almost 3 but the NICU kicked Jaden out as soon as he got there...lol. Anyways I'm trying for a VBAC but am scared it won't happen so have resigned myself to another c-section
I'd like to have a hospital water-birth but the two hospitals here only have labor tubs, so I'll use that but it seems I'll have to get out to deliver.
Definitely in the hospital... Id be interested in learning more about water births but IDK if I could do one because I have to be hooked to an antibiotic IV for group B strep and I wouldnt think theyd allow me in water while hooked to an IV...but who knows (I clearly dont know a whole lot about water births lol)
