When I found out I was pregnant, I called the doctor and was told that the first time that I will come in will be for an ultrasound at 9 - 10 weeks. This seems a little delayed to me as I have friends who saw doctors within a week of finding out that they were pregnant and were given blood tests to make sure that their iron levels, etc. were good.
I am 5 weeks pregnant and will be having my first appointment on July 18 so I'm curious to know when did you first see a doctor, nurse practitioner, etc.?
The first time I got pregnant, they didn't want to see me until 6 weeks at the very earliest and usually more like 8. I went in at 6+ weeks for my first visit. i lost that baby and the 2 after, so now I get seen pretty much right away. I went last wednesday for my first appointment with ultra sound and I go again this thursday (we didnt' see a heartbeat last wed because I was too early). I'll get another u/s and hopefully get heartbeat thsi time. Anyway, 9 to 10 weeks does soun a bit later to me, but I think most docs don't see you until around 8.

Sometime between 6-8 weeks is normal. My doc doesn't even normally do and US except for the 20w. But the initial appt should be bloodwork, and you should get all the info with plenty of time to think about whether or not you're going to do the NST and other tests because they have to be done during certain weeks in the pregnancy.
I felt the same way you did. I think my first appointment is a little late but this is my first pregnancy so I didn't really know what to expect. I am 7 weeks now and do not go in until July 16th when I will almost be 11 weeks. I will get my ultrasound then though.
I saw my dr way early, just a couple days after I got a positive (just to talk)...My first appointment and ultrasound is this friday...i'll be just over 6 weeks...I'm high risk, so they'll see me early and often...In the past I didn't see my dr till I was much farther along...With my 3rd pregnancy I was 13 weeks before the dr would see me.

I was seen at 6 weeks, but there were questions about when I conceived, so I could have been more like 8 weeks. My doctor wanted to see me at 8-10 weeks.
I called my doctor the day I got 2 bfp and saw him an hour later lol. However, that being said, that's out of the norm and I have had this doctor for quite awhile. From what I've read online most appointments don't occur until at least after 6 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, if something doesn't feel right to you i would push to be seen sooner.
I am waiting for a referral to a birth center right now. Hopefully I get that this week sometime and then I will probably have my physical and orientation within a couple weeks then they will schedule a dating u/s at that appt. If I had stayed on at the military hospital my first appt and physical would have been July 9th and then I could have done the 12 week u/s if I wanted.

The office I go to likes to see patients at 8 weeks. I went in 7 weeks 5 days with my first and 7 weeks 3 days with this one. Even though I would have loved the confirmation earlier, I don't want to become a nervous wreck not being able to see a heart beat on the U/S if I went earlier.

My hospital won't see you until at least 9 weeks because if the high risk of m/c. I have gone in and gotten my blood work done but I went straight to the lab to have it done and did not see a doctor. My first appointment is July 16.
Mine saw me at 5w4d but we didn't know before the appointment how far along I was. I go back at 7w4d for a follow up heartbeat ultrasound.
If you are wanting an early appointment did you ask for one? They might be able to get you in. Or if you don't like the way they do things you can certainly change practices - you should be comfortable and feel in charge
My first appointment (paperwork appointment, since I have never been to this place before) will be when I about 8 weeks. My second appointment will be when I am about 9 weeks.
with my first i went in at 5 weeks but that was in a different state , this time they dont want to see me till 8 to 10 weeks, my first apt with be july 3rd i will be around 7 weeks then

With my first 2, I was seen at around 6 or 7 weeks. With this one, my appointment is at 9 weeks. That was the first available appointment. It's no big deal, I can wait a couple extra weeks for the pap smear and blood work. Plus, when they do the u/s the baby will be a little bigger and I'll be able to see a little more than I would at 6 weeks!
