Were your babies big or small? Or for first time mommies, how do the babies in your family tend to run? What do you figure this one will be? I know they say that on average each subsequent baby is bigger than the last weight wise, and I am hoping that does not hold true for me this time around..LOL
All my babies have been on the shorter side, with the longest one being 19 3/4 inches long so I suspect this one will be short as well!
My kids were
DD#1 7lbs 3 oz 19 3/4 inches
DD#2 6lbs 12 oz 19 inches
DD#3 8lbs 12 oz 19 1/4 inches
DS 10lbs 3 oz 19 1/2 inches
I guess (and hope on the weight) that this new baby will be 9lbs (+/- a few oz.) and around 19 1/2 inches
FTM here. My mother gave birth to three totally average babies, none over 9, none under 8. But we were different shapes. I came out super long with skinny legs, my older sister was mid-length but super chubby and the youngest was somewhere in the middle.
I'm figuring mid- to small-sized. (I feel like I just ordered a car. ) DH and I are both pretty small people, and although we have a few stray taller/wider genes in the family, I'm thinking we'll make a pretty small kid.
But I'm also very wary of doctors claiming (toward the end) that I'm too small for whatever their estimate of the baby's weight might be. I'm glad to have a few friend's experience to rely on, so that I don't feel pressured into an automatic doctor-dictated c-section. For one friend, after natural delivery of a nearly 10-pounder, she was pressed to a c-section because of "estimates" for her second. She turned out to be 8 pounds, and my poor friend had a hell of a time recovering from the c-section. I first heard the term VBAC from her -- for her next two, insistently.
#1 7lb8oz
#2 6lb13oz
#3 7lb6oz
#4 6lb
I know every baby can be different. I don't expect this one to be smaller than 7lbs. #4 was supposed to be much bigger, but I had serious stress factors come up in the 2nd trimester and that contributed to growth issues. He'd measured 90% on every scan until 24w, then he slowed down and measured 10% by the time I was 38w.
My babies have both been average weight and I expect this one to be average too. Both boys were eight pounds and two ounces at birth. Lucius was twenty and a half inches long and Orion was twenty-two inches.
With this being my first, I am totally guessing, but when my sister and I were born, we were right around 6 lbs, and my nephew was 7 lbs and 20 inches, so I am thinking somewhere around there. I figure I will probably deliver around 38 weeks too, based on family history.

Don't let them pressure you into a C section just because they tell you that you are to small. I delivered a 10 pounder naturally (with the help of a small epi cut) and I am only 5'2" and a weight of 105 pre-pregnancy so it can be done!

I agree. When I went in to be induced with DS right away the internist was like that's going to be a big baby and then everyone else was just like yeah that's going to be a big one. I tried pushing that marshmallow out but his heart rate started to drop and needed an emergency csection. I also believe my pelvic area didnt open up enough (my mom had the same issue with all 4 of us kids). I will be electing to do a repeat csection. I really want my mom to be there for the birth.

Thanks for posting this. I was recently wondering about this as well! I also 5' 2", and approx same weight. I was wondering if they were going to try to pressure me into a C-section, because I am so petite. I do not want a C-Section at all! (PS- Rebelmommy, how did you carry your pregnancies? I am thinking since I am so short, and petite that I will be ALL belly poking straight out! LOL!)
I am also a first time mom, I am not sure how large my baby will be. I know that with my mom her largest baby was over 8lbs, smallest was 5 lbs, and I was born 7lbs 6oz. I am not sure about the length either! I am 5'2", and my husband is 6'2"!
I am going to guess I will deliver a baby between 7 and 8lbs, and he/she will be long! We will see!
DD was 7lbs 9oz and 22 3/4" long, and DS was 8lbs 13oz and 23" long, if this were a singleton my guess would be around 9lbs and at least 23" long. Being twins though they'll probably be on the smaller side.
My mom had big babies, my brother was close to 11lbs (), and we were all long. Plus DBF and I are pretty tall, so I always figured my kids wouldn't come out too small.
