Does your partner go to your appointments?

My DH is driving me crazy asking when he can come to appointments. So far they have just been simple appointments not really full prenatal appointments. I would rather he watch the kids so that I can just relax at that appointments then have everyone in there. I keep telling him that when its the important ones he can come, the one with the genensist, the ultrasound, the follow up to the fold scan, and to my first OB appointment.

He thinks that other dads are more involved...lol

So does your partner go to all your appointments? Any of your appointments?

He probably would come if I asked, but would have to take time off work. So he usually only comes to the u/s. Fine by me!

He goes to every little appointment when he isn't working or in class. I think my next appointment will be the last one he is able to go to because fall semester will start shortly after. I love having him there. We drop the older kids off at a drop in center and just take the baby.

Not quite the same thing for me, being without a partner, but I've been trying to line up friends and/or family to come to the u/s appointments with me. The others I'm planning to do on my own.

He comes to the u/s appts. There is no reason for him to be there for the appts were all I do is get weighed, pee in a cup, get measured and hear the heartbeat.

He will only come to the U/S at 18 weeks, other then that he works and no need to miss work for regular appointments!

DH works during the day so he don't come to any of mine, although he does try book off the u/s appts (we get one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks) that depends if his work let him though

So far DH has.. despite me trying to talk him out of taking time out of work to come to my first one he did. Then yesterday when i had the u/s i had asked his mom to come because he was working and I got there with her and he was there.. although it was a good surprise they then would not let my mother in law in so she had to sit outside 9they said only 1 person so i was a bit annoyed he had let me drag her along for nothing! I wouldn't mind going without him sometimes though cause he is embarrassing. We were walking into the back with the u/s tech and he says "Yea lets go see some vagina!" Thinking i would get the probe which i did not. Things like this are so typical of him to say and annoying to say the least.

I have only had one appointment, and my husband came with me. My next appointment my husband will go with me. After that, I will not be offended if he only comes to the important ones, or all of them. Whatever his work schedule will allow.

He went to every one of Riley's appointments with me and this one as well so far. obviously not the blood draws but for the 2 u/s we've had. I just make sure that I schedule them late enough in the afternoon when i know he's awake and i've never told him that he has to come or that he has to stay home. I think he likes going because with Riley he got to hear the HB every appointment and it helps make it more real for him since he can only see the changes in me and can't feel stuff as early as i can. The only appointment he had to take off work for Riley was our u/s appointment because they wouldn't do it later in the afternoon so we went to that and went out for lunch and had a good day. It'll be a little bit tricker with Riley being here this time around. He's obviously 3 and lacks the patience it takes for sitting in the waiting room LOL. The 1st u/s he went with, the 2nd our babysitter watched him while i said i had a "girly" appointment since we haven't announced yet. Once we announce we'll probably take him with to a few but not all of them just because he gets to be a handful in small spaces when he's bored with his puzzles and cars that we bring.

he used to my earlier pregnancies....always held my hand in u/s and since both times we didnt see a heartbeat then this pregnancy i didnt take him with me....i feel as if i would let him down somehow if they dont find a heartbeat. But next time, since i have already found a hb with my doppler, i will bring him along of course before we go i take out my doppler again just to make sure its there

I asked DH to come to the last one only because he happened to have the morning off. I was hoping he'd here the heart beat -- to make this more tangible for him. Since that didn't happen, I think he'd be skeptical of my promises going forward.

I think he'll come for the 20 week anatomy scan so that he can see what everyone looks like in there. But otherwise, nah, I go on my own.

DH only goes to U/S appts and he doesn't seem all that excited about that.

He goes to all the appointments. But my appointments are after work so we can go together before we pick our daughter up from daycare.

Its too hard to schedule and I honestly think he would be a bit bored by the regular appointments. I brought him to the anatomy u/s and will again with this one. Other than that I go alone which I do not mind one bit. He does require a phone call to tell him how it went after.

DH has been to every single appointment during each of my pregnancies. They are in my midwife's home and she has a nice relaxing area set up for children to play and parents to sit. We do the appt. right there and then we all go to a room where I lie down to listen to the heart rate. DH and I find the appointments fun and calming. And we love picking my m/w's brain on all things health related and then browsing her large selection of herbs and supplements.

ETA: Another plus is that she lives in the heart of what we call "Amish Country" here so there are lots of fun things to do together before/after the appt. She lives a couple hours from us so it tends to be an all day thing.

jojow, that sounds really enjoyable. I'd love to do days like that together with my husband.

I've had a lot of appointments (nine I think), all but one with u/s, and he's been to three. I don't know how he ended up being there for the one when we learned we'd lost the twin, but I am so grateful that he was. I think he'll go with me to the specialist appointment next Monday just to see what that's all about, but otherwise, and assuming things settle down a bit, he will probably just come once in a while in the future.

My DH comes to my first one which I have an ultrasound and then he comes to the 18-20 week anatomy scan. Most of the other are uneventful and he stays home with the girls in the morning before he goes to work while I go to my appointments. So basically he comes to the exciting ones and not the boring ones

Mine does. He's like a kid in a candy shop when I'm pregnant. I love it! I had to be without him 6 months of my last pregnancy and he and I were both miserable. I LOVE having him home and with me!! He's my best friend. I wouldn't have it any other way. Who else could I whine to when I miss the darn pee cup. lol He's my rock! He's my sanity... and he's my heart. Where I go, he goes. We're one and this wee one making me want to puke is his too. hahaha
