I have had an abscess on my leg for the past few days. Since yesterday it doubled in size and started hurting worse than it already was. My SIL convinced me to go to the ER. Now I have a chunk of my thigh missing, but at least the pain has gone down considerably. I'm glad my SIL lives with us, b/c it is in a spot that I can't see so she has to change the dressing. I've had about 5 of these since I got pregnant but most don't get that big and go away on there own. The doctor was concerned about MRSA but after draining it, doesn't think that is the case. She had no idea what it was or what was causing it. I go back to my doctor on Monday to have the packing switched out then I go to my OB on Tuesday. When I got to the ER my blood pressure was 170/100. About 10 minutes later it was 159/95 (while the doctor was squeezing the abscess which was incredibly painful) and before I left it was 145/91. That is still high, but not dangerous. Hopefully my OB will reconsider my BP meds since they don't appear to be working as well as I would like. I'm hoping this pregnancy will be uneventful, but I'm not sure I will be that lucky.
