What is your opinion on coloring your hair during pregnancy? Most sources say its fine, some say wait until after the 3rd month, my poor hair needs a color boost but I want to make sure its safe, what do you all think?

I'm not sure about the safety, but one thing I've read a lot is that the hormones in pregnancy can make your hair do weird things during the color process, so I'd definitely 'test' a small bit first if you go for it!

I could deffinatly use the color right now but I won't do it just in case. I have only heard not to do it during the first trimester.. So maybe the second trimester is safer.. I'm just too worried about it so as of now I'm waiting it out.

My sister is a stylist and has repeatedly assured me of the safety. That being said, I'm not sure about the box color, but would assume it's the same deal.
I've gotten my hair highlighted already this pregnancy. It does make a girl feel better

for myself I try not to color my hair during pregnancy...I did however color my hair about a week before I gave birth in October...It turned out black so I might wait..I usually just color my hair darker any way, so it doesn't look bad (it's faded mostly out)

I don't Color mine while pregnant. I know "they" say it is safe but "they" change their minds all the time. To me its a small sacrifice for a little while. My hair stylist wont color hair if she knows you are pregnant.

Thanks ladies, I've read for hours online about it and it seems the chance of it harming the baby is slim to none, especially past the second trimester so I am going to wait a couple more weeks and get it dyed.

I color mine and my I love my stylist. She is super protective and makes sure she doesnt get too close to the scalp and all that. I did not have any issues with DS and so far no issues with this one. But ofcourse I use bleach in mine

My next appt is Sept 1st and I will be changing things drastically as I want to do darker for the fall and figure will be easier for up keeping when the baby comes.

I don't think it's an issue and if I dyed my hair normally, I would probably do it while pregnant. I don't dye my hair so there's no reason for me to do it now

I brought this issue up to my doctor and I was told that it is safe AS LONG as the room is well ventilated. So I just did my hair this morning, I feel much better about myself right now. Fresh hair that isnt faded and grown out.

I dyed my hair with both my past pregnancies. Both kids are normal...well as normal as I can make them. I will say the smell gets to me a lot more while pregnant, so make sure it's well ventelated and you might want to wear a mask during the process. I've also heard for some women the color doesn't take while pregnant. Never happened to me, but someone (can't remember who) told me that.

I think it's kinda funny. What do pregnant hair stylists do if it was unsafe? now, in my moms day, I don't know that I would trust it.

Yeah I know, right? My sister had two healthy pregnancies/babies while doing hair. Always made me feel better.
Nail salons on the other hand...wouldn't want to work in one of those while pregnant!

I swear at least one of the girls is pregnant every time I go into my nail salon. At one point I think four of them were pregnant at the same time. They are always joking that if you want to get pregnant, just drink the water there

I completely bleached mine when I was about 8 weeks, and the only issue I ran into was the smell. My doctor said it was fine.
