Ive always gotten my flu shot every year because I worked in health care. Ive always have DS get his and neither of us have ever gotten the flu. I know its safe for pregnant women to get the flu vaccine, but Im undecided this year. For DS yes, but Im not sure about myself.
Are you going to get your flu shot? Why or why not?

No. We never get the flu shots. The last one my husband and I had was almost 5 years ago. I have a juicer and buy oranges as well as other fruits and veggies and make juice for everyone. It has no added sugars or anything else that store bought juices have plus you can mix and match to make whatever flavor you want. My youngest has minor seasonal allergies that has resulted in a clear runny nose for not even a week now but other than that my kids don't get sick and neither do I.
Originally, I refused to get the flu shot because I found out they contain traces of aluminum which has been linked to alzheimers so the last thing I want is to inject myself with it every year. It also has other components I'm not fond of. Thats also why my children do not receive any vaccinations from the hospital when they are born either.
No I never get the flu shot and won't give it to Lily either. DH gets one because it's required through the AF. The only time I've been actually sick in the past few years was right after I got the shot the first time. And I work around kids all day.
I have to admit, I don't like it but we're all getting them. DD was hospitalized for a week when she was 3 weeks old with pneumonia and it was awful. Not doing it again if we can help it
I wish we were a healthy bunch at this house but we're not...

Nope I won't. Hubby has to get it because of the Air Force but the girls and I don't. We choose not to vaccinate because of what the vaccines are made with and what studies we have read that state some adverse long term affects. I have also known many people who got the shot and then got sick right after having the shot.
During winter we kind of bunker down anyway and stay home more than normal. We had a little one with RSV once. No fun! We also up our vitamin D intake. During winter we don't take our kids to Walmart whatsoever. When you have a lot of kids they're really kind and share their sicknesses and Walmart was our fav place to catch stuff. O.O
We also don't vaccinate our baby at the hospital either. For vitamin K I will supplement if I can breastfeed. If I can't, there's tons in formula.
Interestingly enough, they came around and offered all of us flu shots at work today. I was all ready to get mine when the nurse asked me the typical questions like have you ever had an egg allergy, Guillain-Barre, etc. I said no, but I am pregnant, any problems with that?
She said, actually yes because they were using a different formulation/company this year than they had in previous years and said that it was unknown if there were fetal risks and it's a category C. She gave me the package insert and asked me to see if I can get the other version from my OB that is supposedly safe.
I was sitting there thinking, dang, what if I hadn't asked about the pg? Not like she had asked anyone else!
Yes I always get it because I am asthmatic I got it with my last two pregnancies with no problems, for me the risks of not getting it is worse then the risks of getting, my asthma is quite bad I can hardly cope in a cold let alone flu

I have never had the a flu shot but this year I am going to get it, and so is everyone else in the house. Last year our youngest daughter got sick a lot with pneumonia and rsv her lungs are not the strongest due to asthma so we will be getting it to protect her and this baby from getting the flu this season. To me the benefits out weight the risk I can't lose a child from a sickness I could have prevented, we almost lost my dd several time's last winter I will not risk it again.
I have never had one, but the practice where I am highly recommends them because I am pregnant. And from reading further, the potential for the flu to get really serious and affect the fetus is too high for me to ignore.
I'll also very much pro-vaccination for my child though.
We don't do flu shots. They are no more effective than a placebo at best, since it's just best guess of which strain will be prevalent in that year. At worst, they are harmful or might even cause the flu. No thanks. I think the risks of getting the flu are less than the risks of getting the vaccine, and I'm speaking about for both myself (asthmatic) and my baby. I'm not anti-vaccinations, but we do selective and delayed for our children. For something as minor as the flu, I don't see the need to vaccinate for it, especially when there is no certainty that it will be the same strain of flu that is vaccinated for as is infecting the population.
The flu shot actually HAS been linked to causing miscarriages when used in the first trimester for sure, but I don't remember if there were same effects seen in second trimester.
We almost never get sick, which is a wonderful thing!
Unfortunately the flu isn't minor for everyone, especially those with bad health to begin with! If I caught the flu I would end up in hospital for sure!! Not a risk I am willing to take at all! It could be fatal to me an my kids need me :-)
