I haven't gone into labor yet but the past 3 days I've had cramping and contractions that I hope are actually doing something. The thing is, I ended up getting sick on Friday. It turns out I have bronchitis, a sinus infection and due to the coughing I did over the weekend, I coughed and peed at the same time apparently injuring my urinary tract and now I have blood in my urine and a UTI. I'm on antibiotics now but I know bronchitis sticks around awhile. I'm very weak at most points in the day and I'm considered I'll go into labor and not be able to handle it due to little strength and energy. Anyone ever go into labor so sick??
I haven't been sick and in labor so, I can't comment on that. But, who said you couldn't handle it? Your doctor? This is what I think; you may be weak and tired right now and it may be entirely possible that you'll be too weak to labor. But, I also believe that our bodies are amazing things and can do more than we imagine they can so, you might just be able to pull it off!! That said, being in labor while sick would completely suck and I hope you feel much better before your baby comes!
Mom to 3 beautiful kids
Expecting our newest baby girl, diagnosed with Down Syndrome with Verifi, October 2014!
My last baby was born only days after I got over a week long horrible flu and fever. I wasn't technically sick when I had him but I was still pretty weak. My labor wasn't bad, but I definitely got much more tired during it than my first three babies. Fortunately it was my shortest labor (8 hours, my others were 12) because I don't think I would have physically been able to handle a long one.
I am not sure how that would work. I think it may depend on how you feel once you get to the hospital to deliver? Then they can decide what the best course of action is? I hope that you are well enough to labor. I hope you feel better soon!
i have the same issue.... i just recovered from flu with a very high fever and now im coughing bad. Almost everything triggers a coughing chain. I am wondering how to pass labor without coughing my insides out. I hope you feel better soon and gain more energy for the big day.
This is something I'm worried about with the flu being so bad this year and we've had no illnesses in my house yet. Just have to hope for the best I guess. Hopefully in a few days time you'll feel better.
