so I had my 38 week appointment yesterday. I am a tight 2 cm's apparently, so dilated enough where I don't have to be admitted the night before for induction. There is a little concern though. I had an ultra sound to measure growth and a fluid check. Ultra sound went great, I have amazing fluid and the baby is measuring 7 lbs 1 oz as of yesterday according to u/s which maybe off of course. We got an amazing shot of Tyler's face, which revealed a great shot of the cord around his neck . That has always freaked the heck out of me. I know that lots of babies are born with the cord around their neck, but it makes me so nervous. I not really nervous about laboring with it around his neck because I will be on the moniters the whole time, but I am nervous about it strangling him before that. Is that a totally dumb fear? I am really paying attention to movement, but I have never done official kick counts before and I am not totally sure how to do them. He passed his NST will flying colors, so doc didn't need to see me for a week. I had a few contractions and he handled those like a champ, so no worries there right now. My doc is actually more nervous about the shoulder getting stuck just because those make her nervous and it happened with Evan. Anyone know anything about that? I know there can be a lot of different reasons for it. Just because Evan's got a little stuck, doesn't mean Tyler's will. All that to say, I am a bit nervous now. Monday the 11th can't get here soon enough. I just want Tyler out and safe.

Here is my sweet baby

Totally valid fear to have and I would feel the same, I'm sure. Just do your kick counts and try not to worry yourself.

Kick counts are easy to do. Pick a couple of times every day and count how many times he moves... Count kicks, punches, waves, rolls... Any movement. The times of day should be close to the same time. I usually did mine every morning before I got out of bed and every night before I fell asleep. As long as he moves 10 times in 2 hours, he's fine. I usually hit 10 movements in about 20 minutes and stopped counting.

He is soooo cute! I would have the same concerns about the cord too, what did the doctor say about it? X

I would be scared/worried too. I agree with the kick counts, I would just keep doing those.

What did the doctor say? Is it possible that the cord at that moment just happened to be in front (as opposed to around) his neck? I agree, I would be a little worried upon seeing the picture. But I am very happy to hear how well he did on all his tests. Hope his shoulders give you no problems.

Yes it could be the cord is just laying there at the moment and it isn't actually wrapped around his neck. Doc said 25% of babies born have the cord around their neck. Since he did so well on the nst she isn't very concerned about it. Def wants to get him out at 39 weeks but said she delivers babies all the time with the cord around their neck and most of the time they don't know before they come out. She offered to do a c section if I wanted one but she doesn't think it will be necessary. Ugh. I didn't sleep well last night thinking about it . He is moving so much today so that is comforting.

I know it's fairly common but I think that would make me nervous too.

I know it's common, but I understand the fear and I know I would be feeling nervous as well. I'm glad you're feeling so much movement though, and I hope the 11th arrives quickly for you.

Cute baby, btw.
