So I 38 weeks 3 days. Been in labor for 6 days. Dilation not going anywhere, cervix still high. Last night I started having random leaking here and there. It didn't smell, didn't have a color or anything so I thought maybe my waters were leaking. I've been having contractions so I decided to wait all night and see if anything happened. Nothing. This morning the leaking was a little worse but nothing consistent. So I went to L and D. The nurse was very nice. But she hurt me so bad!!! She said she was gonna stick a q tip in my vag and leave it there for a minute so they could test it for amnio fluid. She said it shouldn't hurt. Oh my gosh it burned and stung! I'm not sure what her problem was but she apparently couldn't get it right where she wanted so she spread my lips (sorry tmi) and I thought she was gonna tear them. Then she checked my cervix and couldn't find it or something I felt like a tiger was clawin my insides. I wanted to cry so bad. All that and my pee came back fine and the test was negative for amnio fluid. I was so upset.

Sounds like you could just be having BH contractions. Perfectly normal to have them so frequently around this time in your pregnancy. Once real labor starts, you'll know. Just hang in there. The end of pregnancy can be extremely frustrating.

I second that! I've been trying really hard to let go and just enjoy being able to do stuff for myself without having to worry about a newborn. When I woke up this morning I dreaded facing another day.

I understand how you feel. I've experienced health professionals that were a little rough with the lady parts. However, I believe in karma

Oh my gosh, sorry the nurse was rough with you. I hope next time it will be a lot better! These last days are agony trying to figure out if it is labor or not. I swear everyone says you will just know, but I am worried that I won't know, and end up going to L&D for nothing, OR because I won't know, me then barely making it to L&D.

Yes, sounds like either Braxton-Hicks or prodromal labor, both of which are very common at this stage. Braxton-Hicks are more like practice contractions and are your body trying it out and figuring out what to do. Prodromal labor actually DOES do something, though can be frustrating as it isn't hard labor either. It may just move the baby into the proper position and get things started. You will know when it's the real deal. It won't be too much longer, though.

Thank you ladies! My dr did confirm I was in labor, I guess it's just going to be a very long drawn out labor. This is my second, an with my first I was induced and I never had BH or anything so this is new for me
