Have you guys given anything up since finding out?

I have totally given up pop (I was a huge diet pop drinker). I'm staying away from all artificial sweeteners, although I heard that Splenda is okay in moderation. I'm trying to stay away from all things caffeine too, but I will have a tea occasionally. I'm trying to chug more water.

I also haven't eaten anything that is considered a 'no no'. Before I got pregnant I was trying to lose weight by exercising and eating healthy, so I'm still trying to continue on that path.

I dont drink coffee or tea so going caffeine free is not to hard for me, I will give up pop with caffeine, but sprite has none so i will still have that if we go out to eat, and lunch meat and hot dogs were the only no no foods i ate before getting pregnant so i will give those up, normally im not sure on them but everytime im pregnant i crave them like crazy

I don't drink pop or caffeine, so the only thing I am really "giving up" is alcohol. Which I drink rarely. I had a glass of wine last weekend at a wedding, obviously I did not know yet and that won't happen again. I am a vegetarian so meat is not an issue

Yeah I heard they are okay if you cook the crap out of them haha. I always want a hot dog soo badly when I'm pregnant. When I'm not, I could care less about them.

Sprite is a good option. I forgot about caffeine free pop...although I find they are too sweet for me.

Alcohol isn't a problem for me. I can't even remember the last time I had a drink!

My big thing is diet soda. I've been weaning myself off it for a while. It's probably healthier for me as well as the baby! haha. I still have one cup of coffee a day. It's pretty weak stuff with lots of creamer, so I am not too worried about it.

This site explains it better than I can! As long as it's thoroughly cooked/reheated, it's okay.

lysteria is the same one for lunch meat too, i stay away from hotdogs mostly because i try to avoid foods high in nitrates (sp?) during pregnancy (but in reality i should avoid them all the time)

I'm struggling with whether or not I should give up my beloved coffee...I just love the flavor! With my previous pregnancies I still allowed myself a cup or two in the mornings...Not sure what I'll do this time.

I follow a Weston A Price inspired "traditional foods" diet, free of all processed foods/sugars/dyes/preservatives/etc... So no soda, lunch meat.. I do eat nitrate free bacon and raw milk

I'm pretty relaxed with all the supposed no-no's. My last pregnancy my Dr. was ok with me cutting my coffee down to 2 weak cups a day. I have since quit coffee but will continue my caffeinated tea in the morning.

I think I ate a lot of the no-no's last time...hotdogs, soft cheese, deli meats (heated), rare steak. I didnt make a habit of these things but a lot of the studies I read the restrictions seem very culturally specific. I wouldnt go out of my way to eat all these things but I didnt stress over the time I had mayo or something like that.

I didnt drink at all and wont this pregnancy, but I wouldnt judge anyone who has a glass of wine or beer while pregnant.

just so you know those nitrate free hot dogs are actually just as full of them as any other hot dogs, they contain celery juice which is full of nitrates and is the equivalent of just adding sodium nitrates

I'm not giving anything up, but i am going to seriously limit alcohol, sugar & hot tubs. I am pretty healthy other than that, already don't eat much processed food or drink coffee, etc.

For the 1st trimester, I'm thinking a couple sips of wine at most. after that, i might have a small glass once every couple weeks.

Hot tubs- I'll just use to warm up if I get cold from swimming. but not stay in more than 2-3 minutes.

sugar- maybe a half a cookie and some dark chocolate every day?

I would like to increase my commitment to yoga, religiously do kegels every day and remember to breath DEEPLY all through the day.
