Just wondering how a previous c-section affects pregnancy. I have heard that the scar area can hurt as your belly grows? I really hope that's not common.

Thoughts?

Experiences?

This is my 6th pregnancy (7th actually, since I had one miscarriage), so I'm well acquainted with the normal stuff, but wondering if I should expect anything different since I had a c-section last time.

I've had 4 c-sections and 3 pre-term babies but don't think the c-sections caused them. Honestly if I had a do-over I'd have a VBA1C or VBA2C before a c-sec.

I am 26 weeks pregnant with twins after a c-section (18 mos between c-section and getting pregnant again). I have had no scar pain or anything unusual.

Good luck!

Same here!! I made sure that my new OB was all in favor of VBACs before choosing here. Sorry no answer for your questions but glad to hear there are others here who will be trying the same route I am. Oh I think there is a board for VBACs on JM you may want to ask your questions on there.

Oh, good idea!! I know I have plenty of time to worry, but of course I'm already thinking about possible scar pain and a little nervous about whether they will want me to have a c-section because not only did I have a c-section, but I had gestational diabetes last time (so I'm sure I will this time), AND it will be my 6th birth, so I don't know if VBAC would be dangerous, but I also hated recovering from the c-section. It was awful for me.

Maybe I'll go quiz the VBAC mamas sometime. Glad others in my DDC are in my boat (not that it's a great boat to be in, but glad to have company!).

I'm also shooting for a VBAC after 1 previous c-section. My Dr. said he would support my decision either way whatever I wanted to do. My c-section recovery was really easy though. But I'd prefer vaginal because the epidural wouldnt take for the c-section and they had to put me right out. I woke up a couple hours later and I feel ripped off that I didnt get to hear her first cries and my family had all met her before I did because they were all waiting at the hospital.

I have had 2 C's, one emergency, one planned. I will have another this time as my OB does not do VBAC. I felt a bit of pain around my scar but nothing unbearable. I think it depends how spread out your pregnancies are. My OB advised waiting 2 years between pregnancies to minimize the chance of pain from scarring.
