How do you plan to handle labor & delivery? Pain meds or no pain meds?

Even if I weren't having a c-section, I told the last doctor "I want to have this baby as pain-free as technologically possible".
DS was breech and I was in unstoppable preterm labor (even terbutaline didn't help) so he was a c-section. I *have* the option for a VBAC, but I don't think I'm going to take it, and they can just tie up my tubes while they're in there, please n thank you.

The plan is to go unmedicated. Hiring a Doula to help make that possible since it will be a hospital birth.

With #1 I went to 10 cm with no pain meds but then had a c-section. #2 I made it to 6cm then they insisted on epidural if I wanted to vbac. I hated the epidural and still get back pinches form it! I'm hoping they will let me vbac med free this time (new doctor), But if I have to choose between c-section or meds again I would definitely choose an epidural!

I'm one of those "See and wait" type of individuals. My plan is to go pain free, but if it's just too much pain I will ask for an epidural.

Had a rough early induction with my first due to preeclampsia. Eventually tried an epidural and it didn't work! Sucked! Ended up with a c/s. My 2nd and 3rd children were VBACs with no pain meds. I'd rather have pain and the mobility to deal with it than be unable to move my legs but still feeling every contraction!

planning on the epidural with this one, had it for my other two and even with my first i had very bad back labor she was turned wrong and i still felt a good amount of pain I can only imagine if there was no pain meds at all:S Just second no pain at all but I could still feel things like my water breaking on its own and the pressure

I had a shot of stadol with my first which sent her heartrate all over the place and wound up causing complications not only with delivery but with her breathing afterwards. It was a nightmare.
With my second I had to be induced and did it pain med free. It was awesome!
I plan to have an all natural birth with no pain meds this time around!

I put undecided because I'm going to wait and see how it goes. I would love to say that it will be unmedicated, but who knows when I actually get in there. I had an epidural with my other three and labour progressed so much faster after I got it.

I made it to 7cm with just a little Nubain with DD, who was an induction. They told me when they gave me the epidural that it would slow down my labor.
HAHAHAHAH. 7cm and epidural at 5:45, a pushing 10 at 8:15, DD born at 8:31.
my epidural didn't work right where my groin meets my leg on the right side BOTH times. The second time I didn't realize it until she put the knife to skin and I said, 'UHHH THAT'S SHARP!" They ended up having to do lidocaine on my skin to numb it. Everything else was numb but I could feel the skin.

I'd like to go drug-free if possible. Last time I did use some of the laughing gas though.... I'd like to do that again does that count?

I was induced with my first and just went in trying to hold off on the drugs. I ended up doing the laughing gas, then a shot of morphine and then highly debating the epidural. I agreed to the epidural but the guy wasn't around for a while so I ended up not getting one at all.
I will not get the morphine again, it was a just a waste as they say "it takes the edge off" and I felt it didn't do anything. Also, baby was born faster than they thought so a special team had to come in at delivery since the morphine was still in my system....babe was fine but sure came out dazed looking!! And if any complications had come up I would have never forgiven myself...
I would probably do the gas again though.... although it didn't do much to ease the pain it sure helped me calm and regulate my breathing giving me something to focus on during the contractions.
So, that is why I voted "I don't know yet."
