Or i should rename this update from today's appt with OB's PA since i didn't actually get to see my OB, and now I have to meet with OB next Tue (along with 8wk u/s).

Overall it was fairly uneventful - usual intake/1st appt stuff except PA is also worried about this abnormal result with the liver, so in addition to discussing with OB next Tue (much of the discussion will be around pros/cons of waiting to see if the liver damage gets worse & stay on Lovenox in the meanwhile vs. switch off the Lovenox to Heparin but that apparently has a different set of concerns) I also have to consult with peri about it, possibly prior to my planned 12wk appt with him. More waiting...I'm trying not to focus on the liver issue/concern and instead get excited for another u/s on Tue!!

Hey Lara glad to hear the appt went well and that you get to see baby again next week. I hope everything is OK with the liver issue. What kind of issues do they think will arise?

So far no one will even talk to me about the risk associated with having these abnormal LFTs (i think they're trying not to panic me) but when i see my regular doc who ran the initial LFT tests I think she'll clue me in. Some liver damage is often reversible, and Lovenox is known for causing temporary liver damage in some users, but if liver damage were to become severe it could be permanent...permanent liver damage that's significant can led to liver transplant. There's also a chance that this liver issue has nothing to do with being on Lovenox (hopefully not) in which case we need to figure out what is causing the damage. I have no idea if there are other pregnancy specific risks for liver damage (like pre-e or something like that) and just kind of praying it doesn't get worse and turns out to be reversible after baby is born.

Geez I hope that it not something that becomes irreversible. I'll be praying that everything is okay and that they can figure out the source of the problem and get things under control. Did you have any of these problems when pregnant with Savannah?

I'll be praying that everything goes well with your liver issues. You have to be on Lovenox the entire pregnancy right?

They weren't aware of any (no one did any testing) BUT bloodwork done shortly after I delivered her showed some mildly abnormal levels, lower than what i'm currently showing...my reg doc & a specialist tracked it for 8 months post-delivery and it eventually resolved itself back to normal so they chalked it up to likely being pregnancy-induced. I wasn't on Lovenox for Savannah's pregnancy, which is why there's a possibility this issue is unrelated to it.

Yes, i take daily injection of Lovenox up until 36 weeks, then they switch me to Heparin (2 injections daily) b/c it leaves the system 2x as fast as Lovenox (in the event i need emergency surgery, or anything...they want the blood thinners out of system ASAP), and then after delivery I'll be back on Lovenox for 6 weeks.

I hope you get some reassurance. In the meantime try to focus on the excitement of your upcoming ultrasound!!
