I just read an article online that said that research shows that there's a lot of risks associated with getting pregnant with your second child within 12 months of delivering your first. My babies are going to be about 16-17 months apart. Does anyone here have that kind of spacing, or know anyone who's kids are less than 2 years apart?
The article says there's an increased risk for early labor, low birth weight and even autism Sometimes I HATE the internet!!!!!

My 2nd and 3rd are 19 months apart, and none of my kids have (had) problems. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My girlfriend is due in 2 weeks with her second child, they will be 16 months apart and she has has absolutely ZERO problems. This pregnancy has been the same as her first was. She feels fine. Whether she goes into labor soon, who knows, she is at that go-any-time stage!

take it all in stride...there's also risks to being pregnant older (or really young) and a million other things. Generally speaking i think your body doesn't allow you to become pregnant before it can handle it...and while i'm sure there's a ton of worst case scenarios out on the internet, if you haven't had any problems in your prior pregnancy i'm sure you'll be fine. (((HUGS))) Dr Google is not our friend, esp. during pregnancy!
ETA: my husband is 11 months younger than his brother (irish twins!) and he's fine...we had a couple ladies in Savannah's DDC who got pregnant (surprise!) shortly after having our LOs...one who had her daughter w/in 11 months I think of the older...all fine, so try not to worry!

Thank you girls, I know better than reading crap on the internet, but I got this in a baby center email, one of those "your baby at this age" emails. Ugh, I never thought about spacing them "too soon" I figured between and year and two years would work the best for us. Thanks again, I am DONE with the internet search thing for now, DONEZO!!!

My kids are 18 months apart AND #2 was a VBAC! They are very healthy, active, happy kids! I might also add that they get along awesome! I feel like being so close they understand each other extra much.

Honestly I bet there are articles you can find that say there are risks of being pregnant with brown hair, or risks of being pregnant with 2 arms. I would take those studies with a grain of salt, most of them are BS

My girlies are 17 months apart, and my second pregnancy was a BREEZE compared to my first. My body was just like " well here we go again!" lol. I am very glad they were so close together as I think that actually made labor and delivery that much easier. And their bond now is amazing, they are joined at the hip constantly!
I'm actually a little worried about this one being so far apart in age than my others. Will the pregnancy be harder? Will the new baby ever bond with her older siblings? Who knows.
And I agree about their probably being an article stating the risks of pregnancy with brown hair or two arms...there is always going to be some risk involved with pregnancy. But IMO its a risk worth taking!

My brother and I are under 2 years apart and we're fairly normal. Don't read too much into it, and by too much, I mean basically nothing.

My boys are just shy of 2 years apart, (same spacing for my youngest and this baby). My boys are perfect, no problems with them or the pregnancies. They were nearly identical pregnancies, even down to their heart rates and birth weights.

My second and third are 16 months apart and they are both healthy, and baby #3 was over 9lbs, so no low birth weight here. They are healthy and happy 2 and 3 year olds.

My best friend just had babies 12 months apart and they're both okay. Of course her older of the two just turned one and she literally just had the other one a week ago. She did deliver a tad earlier than her others, but not pre-term or anything. She actually had less problems w/ the delivery this time around then she normally does.

There's a 17 month gap between my first two children. I never had any problems during my pregnancy with Mischa, she decided to turn up five days late and the labour with her was so much easier and a lot shorter than it was with Zach!

Mine are 30 months apart, almost exactly, and DS was 36.5 weeks, while DD was 37.5 weeks.
