I had my first appt with my midwife today. She was great and we basically chatted about my previous pregnancy and birth experience for an hour. Then she verbally took my medical history, so we actually talked about any medical issues I had, which is definitely a different experience than with my previous OB.

But, she couldn't find the hb on doppler. She said it was up to me if I even wanted her to try b/c she said there was a 50/50 chance she'd hear it. I really wanted to try, but then she didn't hear the hb. She said she could hear the whoosh of the placenta, and could definitely hear something rolling around in there, she just couldn't catch the hb. Now I'm kinda freaking out. She told me the name of a place that does free u/s up to 14 weeks, and said I could go there if I needed some peace of mind. Of course the place was already closed today and then isn't open till Monday.

I guess I will end up going in for the u/s. I feel like everything is ok, but I also don't want to wait till I'm 15 weeks, and then not hear a hb at my appt. That would be awful

Glad you liked her! I never heard the HB with the doppler until 14 weeks at my doc's office, so I am sure all's okay.

I wouldn't worry too much, for sure go and get your U/S though. It gives you a sense of relief. I had my 11 week appointment last week and the nurses couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler either but my U/S found it quickly!

Same thing happened to me this week too. I wish I had somewhere to go for u/s for free! Keep us updated! I'm sure everything is good!

Yeah, honestly...I bought a doppler for my first pregnancy and throughout my ENTIRE pregnancy (even 9 months) I NEVER heard the hb on my doppler. I really wouldn't freak out...though it's easy to say because I'd freak out too but...seriously...the doppler is way overrated in respect.

I went in to the dr at 10 weeks 6 days too for my appt and he couldn't hear the hb yet either. Typically they can't until at least 12 weeks, so try not to stress too much. I am sure you will get to see that adorable LO on Monday and the HB during the u/s. Hopefully that can put your mind at ease.

I agree with the other ladies! I'm sure everything is fine. I know that with my previous pregnancies, we couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler at the doctor's office until around 12 weeks.

Definitely go for the ultrasound if it will help put you at ease!

Thank you all so much for the reassurance, I was worried because with dd, we heard the hb at 9 weeks on the Doppler. I guess I was just super lucky. I'm not sure if they'll get me in monday, but I'll update when I get the u/s done.
